Was buttery smooth through the entire game yesterday, today I started a new game and now when I use the mouse at all to look around it stutters badly, WASD movement is still super smooth but any mouse movement is jerky. What is even more odd is if I move the mouse at all during benchmark testing it causes stuttering too.

Did all the changes I could find on other forums but I doubt anything is going to fix it because I didn't change anything.

Edit:
Even fucking more weird is jerky movements go away when I hold down left or right click, even on the main menu. This is borderline creepy.

Any ideas on this? Apparently this isn't a Bioshock thing but a windows 7 64 bit thing. I am using a G5 Mouse.

No change for me running win 7/64, but I had some pretty bad framerate drops, though those can be attributed to my ageing PC and almost full SATA drive

I'm generally pretty craptastic at FPS games, so could someone give me some pointers on:

The big airship battle(I assume towards the end?) where you can summon the giant bird to take down airships. Have played it 4 or 5 times now and the bastards always destroy my ship and I have to start over from the beginning. I generally try to use my machine gun(fully upgraded) and shotgun(fully upgraded) but it just isn't enough to take down the washington and lincoln robots quick enough before they wreck my shit. Taking down one of those uses damn near all my ammo, much less a couple at a time.

I've also been using fully upgraded lightning bio(whatever its called) for chain stuns all around, but should I be using something that does more damage, or the shield that absorbs ammo maybe?

Possess one of the robots. Kill the rest, kill possessed before it fades. Meet the guys where they land and kill them early. Use the water power to push rocket dudes off the ledge rather than wasting ammo.

@hater Update video card drivers if you haven't already ...

Does anyone remember that behind the scenes video that was released a couple years ago that showed how they recorded one scene in the game where Elizabeth's actress had to get upset? She ended up asking Bookers actor to cuss her out and yell at her to get her into the scene. She started sobbing/getting upset and did the scene which sounded great but at the end she says I'm sorry that sucked can we do it again? I can't find it any more but damn that one video really sold me on the games story at the time and damn did it pay off. If any game this year is going to contend with Bioshock Infinite for GOTY then we're in for a huge gaming treat this year. I can not wait for the DLC for this game.

Automotons take double damage if you hit them in the gears on their back too. Since they aren't focusing on you during that time it's pretty easy to get around them.

edit: Yup that is the scene but I had seen it in a different video. They were at a game conference or something and they had showed the footage. Either way great find and thanks again.

She already quit REAL acting for law school - she did Elizabeth during law school - never seen her quote anything directly ruling out any more voice work only standard acting.

Its a shame because I really like the voice work in this game. Her voice was distinctive and original enough that it worked for the character. Too often the voice acting community is so incredibly small that games and animation blend into one another and the recognition of the actor makes me suspend disbelief. Not to knock Tricia Helfer, Tara Strong, Khary Payton, Keith David, etc. but hearing them in everything is just a bit distracting.

Given the themes of the game, the terms of her containment, and lack of exposure to the outside world, I think her accent could be pretty much anything.

Just beat this game. I think perhaps this has been the greatest video game story I've played. Tomorrow I'll sit down and spoiler tag my take which I hope is unique, given the nature of the title.
