Is anyone even looking forward to D4? They are really at a stand still with their fanbase, gaming community and have nothing on the horizon. Bummer to see. But eventually you become to villain.
D4 was immediately dead the second they released some statements asking players for design help.

Big Brain. It's easier to set the expectation that "This game is hard/challenging but rewarding", and delivering content that aligns with that than be ambiguous and all over the place like WoW and having mountains of complaints CASH due to trying to appease everyone.

All kidding aside, there's no hint of 9.2, which given that its basically November and how the year has gone, means 9.2 is a late Spring / early Summer release, and 10.0 is Spring 2023 at best? Is there even a boxed 10.0, or is that the conversion to free to play?

Why would they go F2P? They can collect sub money, and STILL leech off the whales.

Whales pumped an insane amount of money into Blowzzard pre-scandal through the pandemic, making 2019-2020 their biggest earning years yet.

Enough to cruise into 10.0 on the same balance sheets.

That being said-- Blizzcon will forever be a ghost town for the aforementioned reasons.

Blizzard has always been really bad at disaster recovery wrt to PR. It's like they believe their own hype and never diffuse a situation by taking the piss out of themselves. It doesn't help that they're now completely staffed by the type of people who are completely incapable of self ridicule and are the least affable people on the planet.

The whole Diablo Immortal thing laid it pretty bare. It would have been easy to just come out with your April 1 joke as an "Immortal" version of every single franchise. Warcraft Immortal, Hearthstone Immortal, etc and take ownership of the 'don't you people have phones' shit and pretend it's a tagline. You could even co-opt the 'out of season april fools joke' bs. Once you fell on that grenade, it's over. You never deny/ignore insults, you accept, agree and deflect. Instead, they never mention it ever and the communities did the ridiculing for them. The Diablo reddit changed their subreddit theme to be the mobile theme on a phone held by Diablo. When fucking REDDIT is dunking on you, there is literally no place lower you can fall.

Point being, nobody wants to play a 'dying' mmo and I don't think it's in Blizzard's current capabilities to earn themselves back into the good graces of anybody. They are pandering to the perpetually unsatisfied and are way too autistic to win back normal people.

They don't have any successful teams to draw from either, like Square Enix had when they had to rebuild the Final Fantasy team after the disasters of FF14 and FF15. They got a guy from the Dragon Quest team to successfully revive FF14 and potentially the franchise if FF16 is any good.
The biggest thing Yoshi-P did for the franchise was to make sure they don't start to sniff their own farts, because they were in the same position as Blizzard around the time FF13 started development: The industry had started using off-the-shelf engines and automated tools for their games, while Square-Enix insisted on using their own engines and tools. Which not only didn't work out with the Crystal Tools engine, but also bound a lot of their best developers.

They also do crossover events in FFXIV to bring in fresh ideas. And it's not only with other Sqare-Enix properties like Tactics/XII (Return to Ivalice), Dragon Quest or Nier: Automata. They did some with SEGA/PSO2 and Capcom/Monster Hunter.

Yoshi-P tried to make a crossover event with WoW, too. Blizzard leadership probably thought that they had nothing to gain from that, because clearly they don't need the ideas of "lesser" games.

It's not only with disaster recovery. They are notoriously bad with all types of communication, or else we wouldn't have this problem of them not communicating with their player community. And when they sometimes do, like in the Preach interview with Ion, it is seen as a PR nightmare, so they retreat back to the cave, never to be seen again.

That may have worked previously with their older games, but sure as hell doesn't work anymore with both games as a service (MMOs) and esports titles you have a league for (Overwatch).

But they need to ask about lesser games in the customer surveys they just took?

I was of course kidding but it’s clown world now

So, presumably, the founder had met at least a couple of women who were skilled enough to work at one of the highest-profile video game companies in the world.

And there is the false premise all SJW faggots run with. Simply being hired is evidence enough of competency regardless of actual skills. Pathetic.

I was really looking forward to stories of subhumans blowing loads on bowls of fruit while dressed as Worgen. Afterwards they could leave it on display at the Blizzard booth.
