Scumbag Judys don't exist, duh. I think this line is indicative of the issue in Mist's supposition, and it's why she won't buckle down and define.
If you're giving abusers legal wiggle room to abuse people, you're coddling sociopaths, and if you try to eliminate that wiggle room, you're coddling women. Which one do you always think society is going to want to coddle more, women or abusers?
Women and abusers are not distinct groups. Women can also be abusers. If society coddles women, it is giving POWER to abusers. By coddling "abusers" all it's doing is putting the onus of defense on women. Because "coddling" here does NOT mean the same thing, "coddling" women is a net +/- interaction, women will get more power (And thus abusers among them will). "Coddling" abusers is a neutral one--abusers get no special powers; they just escape punishment. (This is aHUGEdistinction. Caveat: This is based on Mist actually talking about shitty boyfriends and not actual hardcore rapists.)
