Everything about cars is way better. Adam Carolla claims that a stock Toyota Camry can beat a 70s Lamborghini in the quarter mile. The only disappointment to me is that gas mileage hasn't really improved that much in the last couple decades.
He can claim all kinds of funny things, but the latest Camry with the biggest engine accelerates 0-100 in 7.1 seconds while a Lamborghini Countach LP400 (1974-78) does that in 5.4

I think you are reading a Camry 0-100 mph vs a Countach 0-60 mph time.

There's no way in hell an old 70s Countach is doing 0-100 that quick.

1976 Lamborghini Countach LP400 0-60 mph 6.6 Quarter mile 14.1
1978 Lamborghini Countach LP400S 0-60 mph 5.8 Quarter mile 14.3
1979 Lamborghini Countach LP400S 0-60 mph 5.8 Quarter mile 14.2
1982 Lamborghini Countach LP500S 0-60 mph 5.6 Quarter mile 13.9

2012 Toyota Camry SE (V6) 0-60 mph 5.7 Quarter Mile 14.1
2014 Toyota Camry XLE 0-60 mph To Be Released

Nope, I am not. 7.1 for 100kmh on a stock Camry. I can't see the Camry you listed as 5.7 seconds as a stock one anywhere. How many hp does it have?

5.4 for 100kmh for the LP400. The later Countaches went even below 5 seconds.

Toyota website is a piece of shit, though.

cars 50 years ago didnt have;

ac
powersteering
automatic braking system
shitload of lights and electronics
dumbass emissions standards
lower octane/power gasoline
a whole host of safety features

Every single one of those things impacts fuel efficiency and only a naive person should ask why isnt it so much better today. Even with all that shit added we still get better mileage today.

Wow is that typical? I thought old cars had shit for crumple zones and were just lazily made with incredibly durable steel that created death-crates for passengers.
