Well, the easy answer is that Oklahoma only has 1 loss, and 2 wins over ranked teams while Texas has 2 losses and only 1 good win(over OU). Also Texas lost its 2 games on national TV, EVERYONE saw those losses, and very few people outside of Texas has seen any of their games since other than the Oklahoma game. That's the nature of the human polls, it's not necessarily what you do, it's also how many people see you do it. That's something the Pac 12 has been bitching about for years with their games being so late that a lot of the national media doesn't see them.

Texas's conference schedule so far has been the absolute dregs of the Big 12(other than OU). Wins against kansas, kansas st, Iowa, and TCU don't really impress anyone(not to mention they needed one of the worst blown calls in recent memory to beat Iowa State, who may be the worst team in the B12 this year) Their last 3 weeks will really show us what Texas really is, ending their season against Okie lite, Baylor, and Texas Tech.

I am aware of why they aren't ranked. But they beat the every living shit out of the supposedly 8th best team in the nation. Arizona St, TTech, and ND have done what to be ranked? It was also a dig at OU being ranked way too high. I don't care because the polls don't matter for Texas anymore, just more evidence of how useless the human polls are.

Human polls are shit. Computer polls are shit. Man and machine united in their inability to accurately assess relative strengths of college football programs.

They realized that and now put the fate of the NC in the hands of 12 completely unbiased individuals who will pick who goes for the bacon... It makes complete sense!

So there are only 3 games next week featuring 2 ranked teams playing each other and 2 of the 3 are on Thursday night. Oklahoma vs Baylor and Oregon vs Stanford. That's a hell of a lineup for a weeknight.
I am trying to figure out how the hell this happened. Oregon vs Stanford is one of those games I had marked from the beginning of the year, and I have to stay up late on a work night to watch it. I hate Thursday night football on both levels...

Does that mean Dirk Koetter (former ASU head coach and now Atlanta Falcons OC) is the leading candidate for the Texas HC spot?

Oklahoma dropped it's 2018/19 home/home with LSU today and replaced it with UCLA. Going to be hard to find another quality opponent now for that. Yes, teams schedule that far out. LSU has out of conferences games scheduled out as far as 2021 now.

Pinkel seems like a steal at 2.8 million compared to some of the guys above him (like Jones, Beliema, Ferentz, & Pelini)
