The problem for me is probably git gud but I feel like I get no responses from parries or dodges on some moves if I wait until the
Motion is happening. Definitely a git gud issue but the telegraphs are kinda shit sometimes. Fucking amazing game though.
Iirc parry timing is lenient after the hit. Meaning you should bias your parry to be late rather than early. Also use the sound cue of some attacks to learn the rhythm. Attacks without sound cue can generally be parried on reaction with the visuals except for some hard bosses like Simon.

It's from the same developers and uses the same type of calendar system. But it's not kids on a school anymore. The previous games were called Persona
Tricky fuckers. Almost bought the game because of this thread, then your post made me realize I'm just reading a bunch of weeb fanboys...

I couldn't even make it through what I'm guessing is the intro, walking around with some woman, flowers protruding everywhere. The scene transitioned to some nogger trying to get Robert Pattinson drunk and I turned it off. Very, very boring.

The first 45 is a fmv that sets the tone

You just had to talk to a few more ppl ( ornot) then goto the landing dock and become expedition 33 , you were 5 mins away

The first Gommage you witness is an insanely powerful scene for characters you barely know. If that scene didn't grab you then move on, this game will be lost on you.

If you extrapolate it out, in 10 hours of game time you would be up to 16 joggers per 37 seconds harranging you to abuse alcohol. Its best you stop now

avoiding thread since I imagine spoilers more common this long after release.

Before i launch into it here soon, was wondering if anyone has a really good wiki type site for be to look stuff up here and there. Usually not a big fan of multiple play thrus so want to avoid missing stuff or not getting stuck on annoying puzzles or anything

I don't think anything is actually missable. There are things that drop in areas you can't go back to but you can get those drops somewhere else.

Definitely do the arena as Maelle though because the alternate way of getting that extremely good item is a bit challenging.

yeah, the missable topic is more, "kindof".
there are missable things for achievements. such as the mime in the prologue.

99.9% of "missable" things are just cosmetic, or consumables.

that arena item which is kind of missable, and not really telegraphed as a thing that you should be doing, can be obtained much later. but is really useful to get then. I don't think there is any other instance of such a thing.

This game was enjoyable but I would not rank it among the best. Combat and graphics were unique and interesting, the world building was great. However most battles became failing on the first time to learn the counter timing, or messing it up, group healing, and then countering. Pretty much everything was counter and then Maelle/Verso big hits. Got a bit repetitive but still engaging with different patterns. The buffs/debuffs hardly seemed necessary, just bigger numbers or less facetank.

Storywise I understand its good but I haven't been attached to a video game character other than Saurfang in the last 2 decades. Maybe something about the suspension of disbelief or that the attachment in a lot of stories is from one character to another, that we haven't witnessed that much to actually attach ourselves to the characters. People turning into flowers at the beginning that I've known for 30 seconds is a sad scenario but I'm looking at a bunch of pixels dressed up like mimes being sad for eachother. They're hardly characters yet. I see it in other media too, references to some history between chracters that makes it sad. If I wasn't there for it, I'm not really attached. Aerith hit because you spent 60 hours hanging with her and she had the healy Limit breaks. You spent hours dicking around in an amusement park and you met her mom. It wasn't a lightup applause sign saying "Sad Scene".

Again, it was a cool concept and a neat story but I think the reviews bandwagoned on it just being fresh and nonjap.

Soundtrack was A+.

yeah. its a weird game. I don't think its as bad as Bioshock infinite with it getting 10/10's and everyone insisting how deep and emotional it was, but then 10 minutes later going back, and thinking..wait... this game is actually kind of total shit.

but I think there are MASSIVE MASSIVE flaws and deadzones in this game, that are 100% being overlooked by the incredibly good acting, voice acting, and soundtrack. its a very emotional game when the cutscenes hit.

the exploration sucks. picto/lumina system is pretty solid. combat is good. but i don't like how antagonistic the parry system is. intentionally trying to fake you out, instead of flowing naturally.
I don't find the world is as well thought out as much of symbolism in the main story beats. most of it feels like pointless extra. a mishmash of Verso's childhood I guess.. but eh.. I find the logic of the Luminare people so shit and fake, that it really takes me out of it.
"lets build a ferris wheel and ride it to the paintress" take me out of the game. yes its a funny joke. but, I can't see these people as actual people fighting desperately for their lives.
Same with the insanity of having no real plan or strategy, or no system to get information back. I mean it tries to make you feel for these people and establish them as real, but it undercuts itself. it needed to flesh them out, fishing, farming, etc. real desperate plans and organization.

no good ending. the game has a major problem where I agree with Renoir at the end of act 2. so.. why the hell am I still playing?
The game should have probably split here or something. choose verso or Maelle right then, and who you follow. or perhaps have Maelle LEAVE the canvas for a while. so you think she can actually do it. Hell even as simple as having her accept the name Alicia. or make a much stronger argument that you are fighting for the survival of Lune, Sciel, and the rest. if Maelle EXPRESSLY argued against Renoir that she was doing it FOR them. "I can't let you kill these people"
that would work better. as then you get to the end, and Verso can be. maelle, you are doing it again. let me go. versus her, no I can't, I won't.

I got bored climbing the reach and just uninstalled. I didn't care.

I think I put 30-40 hours into this, but lost steam after completing act 2. I like the story, and tolerated the game play. Sometimes it was fun, other days it was a chore. Once I got the big reveal in act 2, I kinda lost my motivation. I’ll go back and finish it at some point , but you pretty much know where it’s going after act 2.

OST is great. If they release the vinyl for it, I might buy it.

What? Main story and all the side content had me coming in at about 40 hours. You can mainline the story in 20ish.

I probably had some idle time in whatever tracks my game time, but it did take me a while to get the combat down. I probably spent more time than I needed to repeating sections and bosses, until if I got them down, because I’m not terribly good at these kind of games. I know there’s and auido tell for parry and dodge, but I couldn’t get that down reliably. So I just repeated until I had the rhythm memorized. Towards the end of act 2 I didn’t need to do this as much, but I took my time at the beginning.
