I don't have a watched some reviews and read some stuff out of this thread sparingly because I didn't want to spoil anything, but is it really that bad, or just not your cup of tea?

I have been eyeballing the game but I don't like the whole fast time whatever the fuck it's called system, QuickTime events?
You can knock difficulty to the lowest setting and the QTE stuff gets negated. Aside from the paint brush people, the QTE combat doesn't get retarded until later into the game.

YMMV on the twist, but the world is unique and all. I would have rented the game if I had the means to, but didn't feel like my money was wasted buying it.

Is this worth the little sale right now?
game of the year if you like turn base jrpg style games, or stories. it has one of them feels hitting stories in a weird and interdasting world.

I didn 'nt like the quicktime stuff much, but 'dodge' (vs parry) is very easy. and you can jrpg minmax your characters enough to make up for some what unskilled/lazy dodging.

the game has 3 acts and the third you can go "right to the ending" and win the game right away, and then there's tons of optional areas and bosses. i think the game only really 'requires' you to get gud at parrying and perfect timing, when you try to do the optional ultrahard bosses and areas.

The combat system kills my desire to both replay it and complete the side act 3 content. It’s just too exhausting. I also would need to actually build Verso and Monoco, which I never did in my campaign. So that hard locks me from completing several boss encounters straight out.

Not true at at all, it's actually the opposite. You get OP super and can one shot pretty much everything. Easily took out the super boss and didn't parry shit

The hardest part of the game is doing the optional bosses like Sprong with the 9999 dmg cap during act 2, because you have to parry 100+ times. In act 3 you can one shot pretty much anything, including Simon, by stacking dmg modifiers.

The game is really good but the parry system is predictably too dominant for most of the game.

kinda wish it was balanced sound parry being like half damage so it isn't all or nothing. Don't like having a team that relies on being spritely twinks dashing around rather than having an option for some brute of a full plate tank

Like in Mario RPG! Yes that could have been a fix to open up other playstyles/builds, and make the game not revolve almost 100% on parrying (except act 3 i guess).

I can smell faggotry from a mile away. I've been dealing with Foler Foler for years. Not wasting my time with this game. I've got plenty of other games to waste my with.

Because crying about a game is a much better use of your time
My friend, the good Doctor of Retardation, asked if it was worth it and I shared my thoughts. Sorry not everybody enjoys your weird stinky French game.

As the closest thing to an illegitimate child / revival of Shadow Hearts: Covenant we will ever see, I was rather fond of it, even at full retail.

Your mileage may vary depending on your love of (effectively) JRPGs, Active Time Battle systems, and Western Europe.
