this is a different statement. It's a good game but it definitely showcases how outdated true turn based rpgs are.
Turn based RPGS as a whole, are not only not outdated, but are in a massive resurgence. we've had this discussion. They started to die out due to consoles, and "modern audience" thinking of the early 2000's. Diablo, morrowind, Kotor>bioware. Bioware (and Bethesda) nearly killed the turn based rpg.
however, Xcom and Wasteland said. no sir. I think not. The success of Wasteland kickstarter, lead DIRECTLY to Pillers of eternity, and Divinity:Os. Pillers was rtwp. Divinity

During this period, other games, tactical games exploded as well. Victoria 3, crusader kings, etc. Xcoms, and xcom likes.
Dungeon crawls also made a huge comeback in the indie scene. both turnbased and real time.
falloutlikes. such as underail, encased, broken roads, etc. pc indie games have tons of turn based rpgs.
Card games such as hearthstone, and slay the spire, and all those clones.
Currently turn based rpgs are outselling action rpgs pretty consistently.
The previous comment was about CONSOLE rpgs though. where I don't think tactical games like victoria 3 are even on. Also specified AAA. which is also another matter.
