Obviously you have never heard of Ryan Perilloux, Rhett Bomar, Dayne Crist, Garret Gilbert, Jess Driskel, or Mich Mustain. To be a huge bust you have to first be a highly rated recruit. Our QB, Maty Mauk, was not. He was a 3-star recruit out of Ohio. Sure he set every national high school passing record in existence, but he was not expected to be an immediate star in college. He's basically right where he was predicted to be, an inconsistent Sophomore QB. 3-star kids don't come in and dominate their first year starting.

And what the hell are you betting on? Missouri is 8-4 against the spread this year.

I swear, some people here have never looked up a stat in their lives, they just form opinions on what they assume to be true/what fits their agenda the best. It's almost like participating in a politics thread at times. The ignorance of the vocal minority can be overwhelming.
I think what most people are trying to get at is that Missou is just an above average team despite winning the SEC East; and I agree. Missou went from the Big XII North where you played 1 or 2 of Texas, OU, and Nebraska every year to the SEC East where you play 1 or 2 of Alabama, Auburn, and LSU. In all honesty, I Missou should be ranked right around my Sooners this year because if they played the top 9 teams in the league they would most likely be holding 3 losses.

Joe, calm down. Jeff Driskel is the Opie looking faggot that cost me several 1$ wagers. Also, iirc, he was the #1 total recruit in his class. Which had amazing qb talent (I'll let you look it up).

And yes, iI have heard of most of those guys, but not all

To be fair, at least half of those guys were head cases that let off the field antics get in the way of their talent. Perilloux was doing OK at LSU and then got busted a few times, there was a ton of buzz at OU about Bomar taking the next step his sophomore year before he was kicked off the team for the Big Red incident, Mustian's had helicopter parents who would go to the local Arkansas media to get a story written about why their true freshman son wasn't starting over a redshirt junior. Garrett Gilbert was the only one I can remember that just didn't live up to the potential, but what QB besides superfreak VY in the last half of Mack's tenure?

This article is pretty interesting

(and Maty Mauk of Mizzou, but he wasn't nearly the recruit these guys were)

A guy by the name of Colt McCoy. Though he was a 3 star that nobody expected to ever start.

How the shit did I forget about Colt? I always think of his brother instead of him.

Case McCoy always reminded me of the Simpsons episode where Bart finds out he has an evil twin brother thats been locked up in the attic since birth, and the evil twin is all hideous and deformed. Thats basically Case compared to Colt. Also representative of the differences in their football skills.

And just FYI, anyone that wants to see an 8-team playoff soon, root for Missouri tomorrow. Because I guarantee if somehow Missouri wins and the SEC ends up with no representative in the 4-team playoff, you'll see an 8-team playoff immediately, starting next year. Probably the 5 conference champ+3 wild card system. Heads will roll. It would be damn interesting to watch in the offseason. Or alternately, if Missouri wins and Bama still gets in with 2 losses, pushing out the conference champ of another league with only 1 loss, same result. 8 team playoff next year.

If Mizz wins and Bama still is in the playoffs, then you can damn well confirm that the playoff committee is a fucking joke and is colluding with the SEC/ESPN/etc. I would also suspect other conferences and their respective teams to bring it to media attention of how much bullshit it is. I now want it to happen just so we can see the shit storm that follows...

Completely ignoring my obvious team bias...I'd love to see the ensuing fallout from either one of those scenarios. It would be some very entertaining drama.

But if that happened where would Whattsa manufacture the courage to talk to 40 year old chain smoking hags at the local watering holes? If SECSECSEC can't help that guy, than what is it all for? Think Mizzou gets boat raced but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Ariakas - you ready to blow the spread against Gumby tomorrow? Woke up today feelin' pretty good about OSU's chances... which typically means I'm way off and Perine will run all over us

Bob Bowlsby (Big 12 Commissioner) is a liar and a coward.

"I like our path to the championship. The fact that we play everybody in our league is a nuance that is not going to be lost on the selection committee," Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby told the media during his opening address at the league's media day. In the Big 12, which has been touting its "One True Champion" mantra, each team plays nine league games, facing everyone else in the conference during the regular season.

"We always are going to get to the point of a true champion. That's the other thing about playing nine games is you're always going to have a head to head; you're not going to have two teams with the same record that didn't play each other. That part is self-resolvable."

Four months later....

Bowlsby was also asked about the Big 12 in relation to the College Football Playoff committee. In the event of co-champions, Bowlsby said the Big 12 would inform the committee that the conference has two champions.

Ugh, usually I would be pretty confident since it is Norman, but 3 losses and a defense that makes every QB look like a Heisman contender makes me nervous.

What are your feelings about Gundy and OSU after this year?
