i have some friends who have been playing this since early release. they LOVE the game, but i dragged my heels because survival games interest me for about 5 minutes. but this game? there's something about it. i've put in about 200+ hours according to steam. i put the majority of that in last year. then we took a break to play other things and restarted a few weeks ago. they've fixed a few minor quality of life things since then, but the developers are SOOOOO SLOW to address anything.
that being said, this and subnautica are the only survival games that keep my interest.

made me download this then abandoned me in this waste land. I feel used...Anyways, I'm actually enjoying it now that I got out of the little starting area. The combat is wack. I don't know if its my ps4, the server, or game but the NPC seem to teleport all over the place while in combat. Also, i joined one of the fast progression servers and its fun just running around exploring and figuring out the crafting without having the feeling that one wrong move will loose hours of farming/progression.

The game is fucking horrible, but I love it. I like the building, survival and resource gathering, but the NPCs/AI are fucking mannequins. I'd definitely play on an FOH server with some forumbros on PS4.

If they took all that wasted development time trying to make this a pvp game and instead fleshed out the thrall system and AI, could have been a really awesome game. I have like 300-400 hrs in it so I’m happy but it really could have been more.

the biggest issue, i think, is the lack of dev team/experience. they have some great ideas but the programming to make it work properly just... isn't there. the pets are super cool in theory, but with a lack of being able to manually control pets (follow without attacking, only defend from attackers, attack this specific target) thralls will always be better just because you can give them better armor. like, the bug queen pet (can't remember the name) does a TON of damage and has a high amount of health, but a thrall will always be better because a thrall is just so much more flexible. you can give a thrall a truncheon to knock out other thralls you want. you can give a thrall high end armor, high end weapons. if you're lucky enough to get the blood spear (whatever it's called, the one that heals you) you can give that to your thrall and they'll always be topped off on health.
i'd LOVE to use some of the cooler pets, but there just isn't a point. even just for flavor, i get more pissed off on how big they are and how much they get in your way.
there's a ton of goofy bugs and glitches as well. thralls just can't path well so the volcano is just not worth going to because your thrall/pet WILL die. and yet, i still keep playing it. it's so much fun and if they were able to fine tune the development team it'd be great

and I found a server that is super hilarious. He had a small base set up, and I moved to the left of him and started building my three story mansion. Obviously, a very important and secure above tunnel system between our two locations for mobility.
Until I see a white tiger nearby while scavenging wood.
And mistakenly tell Gator.
Who trained the little fucker right to my house. Pretty sure Gator might be a closet socialist. He was jealous of my 3 story house - he only had one story.
Anyway, in runs Gator. I closed the door. In pops the white tiger. With only his head clipped through the door.... staring at us.
Access to my above ground secure travel system was swift and quick. And it was swift and quick for the tiger too. Who then chased us through the tunnel system.
Died. 3 times. Gator, ran away laughing hysterically.
Game is now a 10/10. And I also plan on logging in and since we are in the same clan, might have a surprise or two when he gets back in.

I'll let you know I forgot which one we were on. Everythig is FAST. You'll get to 60 in no time and you get TONS Of resources. Its a lot of fun and not so grindy.

lmao good times! Server is Rock n Ollies World on PS4 PVE-Conflict. My white trash base is located in the top right corner of J6. I took a screenshot of the map and posted it to the ps4 foh community and also sent you an invite to the community.
