I have zero hope for the story, if BDO is any indication. Will be interesting to see what they do. A lot of things in bdo were tuned and set in a way to drag out goals and playtime to keep players online and coming back as much as possible. And to facilitate the cash shop to shorten said time to goals. But with a single player do they really need to do all that? So how bad will item chasing me compared to bdo. Will the cash shop just be cosmetics?
Trying to remember but bdo originally had a box price, it wasnt full price, but it was still something, like 20 bucks? 30? I forget, so they pushed the cash shop hard and a lot of QoL/Shortcuts were sold there(and still are). This is what 70 right off the bat? So maybe not such a push into the cash shop as its predacessor. Will see. Even at 70 bucks, if its a good game, I usually get 40-60 hours for a playthrough for most single player games(at least to finish the story, do some side quests/item chasing on the side but not much). So almost always still a good value for cost:time.
