Y'all are some jaded motherfuckers.

This looks fucking sick. My only concern is its gonna run at 15fps.

If it can actually run on normal computers I'm gonna be suplexing so many fuckin orcs.

I have zero hope for the story, if BDO is any indication. Will be interesting to see what they do. A lot of things in bdo were tuned and set in a way to drag out goals and playtime to keep players online and coming back as much as possible. And to facilitate the cash shop to shorten said time to goals. But with a single player do they really need to do all that? So how bad will item chasing me compared to bdo. Will the cash shop just be cosmetics?

Trying to remember but bdo originally had a box price, it wasnt full price, but it was still something, like 20 bucks? 30? I forget, so they pushed the cash shop hard and a lot of QoL/Shortcuts were sold there(and still are). This is what 70 right off the bat? So maybe not such a push into the cash shop as its predacessor. Will see. Even at 70 bucks, if its a good game, I usually get 40-60 hours for a playthrough for most single player games(at least to finish the story, do some side quests/item chasing on the side but not much). So almost always still a good value for cost:time.

Not jaded. Some of us have just spent the last nine years playing Pearl Abyss’ only other game and have seen their patterns firsthand.

So what's more realistic here?

A studio that has repeatedly broken promises about features in their MMO, delayed updates, created problems just to sell the "solution" in the cash shop, and left outdated systems untouched for years suddenly decides to release a game with zero MTX bloat, a perfectly smooth engine (when BDO has struggled with performance for years), and hundreds of hours of polished content - even though it can take them three months just to rework a single old zone's mob difficulty/rewards (they don't even change the graphical layout)?

Or… the game ends up being kind of "meh" at best, or outright bad? You'd be wise to take a "wait and see" approach with these guys.

Seriouosly. Zindan Zindan come on you know better than that - since Crimson Desert has a day / night cycle as well and it is obvious they are taken in two different cycles of that. How on earth can you gauge lighting ability?
Everything I've seen of CD has shown the game to be overly bright (even for midday), and poorly textured structures. Yes, everything we've seen has been pre-Gold versions, and it is why I hope the game has undergone some additional work on lighting / textures (it has, I think you see it somewhat in DF's recent vid).

Here, a slice of the game shown 3 months ago during the OTK winter game fest. I know that video compression ruins the quality of visuals. Watch this as Will moves the character to the little cabin in the woods. No sane person can think that the Cabin is properly lit up. Nothing graphically shown in this video is impressive, imo. I'm hoping it was an older build from months prior, and running at medium settings. its just meh.

I'm hoping the upcoming flood of impression videos will show the game in a better looking state.

Given what Digital Foundry said about the game in the vid I posted, I think it will run pretty well on systems with 30XX / 40XX and similar cards.

If you watched that video with DF you also saw them highlight the graphical processes and how it looks.

Based on this video that just came out, it sounds like the graphics will be very nice. I like that they are putting in a particle effects slider 1-100.

I did, and I mentioned that in my other post. As I said, I was impressed with how well the game seems to run on last gen hardware, and also why I am hopeful that once I am playing it on my system and this monitor the issues I have with how the game looks will become irrelevant.

I tend to think we’re all jaded and bitchy. Games used to be a fuck ton more simple and shorter. I’m hoping this is fucking amazing.

During the single summer that I poop-socked BDO, I (and a lot of my guildmates) thought that a game like BDO with actual 'dungeons' and a gearing system that wasn't masochism incarnate would be the end of our real lives.

I've been closely following development of this game since the first tiny nugget of info leaked and I'm definitely looking forward to it, but I've been burned too many times to be anything but skeptical.

This game does look cool. It just looks like its trying to do way, way, way too much.

This truly feels like the first GTA fantasy game. Yea I know Witcher/TES. But this feels more like aligned to just "cruising" and doing random stuff if that makes sense.

And like GTA I think their monetization will come in the form of online later.

Is there any mention of dungeons? Like dragon dogma 1s were pretty good

The marketing director for the game was asked that direct question recently.

Timestamped

Doesn't sound like there will be Dragons Dogma type dungeons. Hopefully it's not just a series of POIs similar to The Witcher 3 which had a lot of them around the world, but vast majority of them were fairly pointless and repetitive. I think I did nearly all of them when I did a full run+ DLCs except perhaps a few around Skellige as I was kind of burnt out after 140ish hours.

Also kind of skeptical about his answer towards all the systems in the game. He didn't like that it was implied that they were shallow (since there were so many), but rather implied that they are sort of a sum of all parts type of deal, since the systems are all designed to work with each other.

I am interested, but I will wait for reviews/impressions for this. However, it takes a lot of "bad" for me not to end up buying a game in a setting like this. .

I'm thinking about getting this at release. I know I should wait for a year for big game releases but somehow playing busted ambitious games at release is more enticing somehow.

I just got off the phone with Kim Daeil, he said all your p2w money in BDO is getting funneled to Crimson Desert. Keep swiping that credit card for all the $ they'll need to spend as I try this ambitious game day 1 and angrily demand they fix every bug I find.

My only concern is will the combat be keyboard piano like Black Desert? Because that shit was aids.
The one review I read that mentioned using KB/M was from a year ago, by someone that had not played BDO. Their description of combat was a bit odd; standard WASD, with Ctrl for Block, Space for dodge along with Q, E, F for abilities like grapple, mounting. They also mentioned that "skills" were assigned to 1,2,3,etc.

If I could play any of the CD characters like how I play my Awakening Witch in BDO... I'll love combat. The Awakening Witch can have most of her skills on the hotbar, so it's nice and easy.

They've mentioned "combo" gameplay in interviews. While the combat system is definitely different than BDO, I'd expect some similarities.
