Going to get some sleep but I am having a blast. I only took over one bandit camp so far and have the second one to clear but got sidetracked with cooking, mining, cutting down some trees and upgrading my starter kit for a bit. There is so much stuff I hope I don’t forget the important things.

About 6.5 hours in now... so many of the reviews I watched (even the very positive ones) said the first few hours sucked and it picks up a ton. Wtf? I'm having a great time already and am already mostly used to controls. Still a bit of jank, but there is an obscene amount of shit to do in just the first little town.

The controls are so clunky is detracts from the game. The game is good, but they need to shore up these controls.
Edit: I turned down my game from Cinematic to Ultra and didn't really notice a difference and gained like 20 frames. It's pretty amazing how well the optimization is for this game. I'm getting 100 frames with raytracing on with my 9070XT at 1440p. That's a pretty amazing feat for them to pull off.

Arrived at the town bags full of 30 kinds of butterflies and flowers and some gay earing I got from 2 bandits I found wondering away from the horses a little, didnt try to take on a camp with like 10 dudes. Make sure you pick up the 2 abyss artifacts on the trail to the town w/ the dude.
Fishing seemed annoying, couple minutes of reeling to bring in one fish felt like. Found a shovel but no idea about spotting dig worthy places. Found some mining ore spots but no pick I guess. I need a 3rd hand because so many controls, are hold this while moving mouse and tapping something else.

is there a good frame counter without having to use amd overlay or something? Didnt notice issues on mostly cinematic so far, turned a couple things down from the graphics video 2-3 pages ago.

One thing I will say about PA is that they are a company that patches very frequently. BDO has literally gotten weekly updates(they only skip weeks that are Korean holidays)its entire 10+ year existence. I am having fun and taking it slow (just got to Chapter 3). There are a lot of bugs though, I've had to reset twice with the MSQ just bugging out, thankfully the auto save points are not far back. Was expecting the first boss to be a lot more challenging based on what people said but he was a pushover. This has an old school single player feel to it and you're clearly intended to take your time & explore albeit I do feel they went a little too far with the amount of follow NPCs around quests.

Messed around with graphic settings a bit. I set everything to that image posted in here, along with using Ray Reconstruction + DLSS Performance. I gotta say the RR is really impressive, but when I set DLSS to Balanced or higher, the image got worse and worse for some reason, and much worse if I enabled Frame Gen (lots of ghosting). So the RR+DLSS Perf looks better than just DLAA + the suggested settings from that image. I get around 80-90fps solid.
Game has been fun, lots and lots of distraction. Haven't hit any bugs yet. Died once to I guess some environmental dmg on top of a ridge. I think I'm about to get to the first real MSQ boss. I'll probably get smashed, lol.

From the looks of the combat, I would think perfect controls are paramount. Sounds like it would make the combat instantly unfun. So what's left? Running around gawking at the scenery and finding secrets under rocks? We already know the story sucks.
