Just seems weird that no one tested the game on mouse/kb and wasn't immediately appalled at what they'd done. Something so simple should've never made it to release.
feels like the are on somekind of hard deadline to deliver. but having said, this game could only get better with follow up jumbo patches. holding out till then

I started trying out the seemingly worst Controller inputs, a skill called Focus Shot... and its pretty easy. Press LT to Aim, while Aiming press down LS+RS (can let go once in Focus state) then spam RB to fire off x# of arrows when Focus comes off. Nice damage. Just need a nice bow now.

Also killed miniboss named Knight of the Beacon, hard fight, he did tons of dmg. Got a message saying loot was sent to Supply Chest. Checked the chest, nothing special. Apparently its a quest boss.=/

Game might dethrone Elden Ring as the best looking fantasy game of all time. The atmosphere is just incredible.

Are you guys enjoying your keyboard piano yet?
Controller is pretty chill, tbh. 99% of the time you only need to spam Light / Heavy attacks while paying attention to chances for Parry or Stuns. Anything beyond that is just getting some variety into the mix.

Yeah I’m very used to the controls now.

Had a blast all day exploring and dreading the Reed Devil fight. Went all over unlocking fast travel points and doing puzzles, leveled up some gear, etc. Then it was time to get serious.

About two hours ago I found a sweet spot to farm fine meat and keep teleporting back to it for a reset. Cooked up about 60 hearty grilled meat and then also went and made 9 Palmar pills. I was thinking I would need 80-100 hearty grilled meets and said screw it. I wanted to at least run through the train wreck up to the weed fields and see what the fight would be like.

Got in and just started spamming parry during phase one and followed up with heavy attacks and the occasional force palm. Had him to phase two quickly. Darted all over killing the scarecrows and that was over quick. Then phase 3 and started dodging red shit and spamming parry again with heavy hits and after all that farming, used 7 heals. Haha.

Hateyou Hateyou look at this old fart? One shotted the bizatch!

Going to take longer for this camp to upgrade than attempts on that boss.

Told Springbok Springbok in steam chat and even he was impressed. Starting to clean house.

Still sucks the right analog doesn’t work when fishing or needing to move it clockwise in a circle via wireless. I ran into a puzzle that required I use nature and move that analog stick clockwise and had to plug in with a 6 foot usb c cable. I looked retarded but I got it done.

Did you actually buy this game?
Nope. I have eyes and I follow multiple BDO streamers who've been playing it non-stop.

Even looking at enemy variety alone, Elden Ring still feels well ahead(and that's saying something, because ER doesn't even have an overwhelming amount of NPC diversity to begin with IMO). When you factor in areas like Altus Plateau, Leyndell, and Azula, Akron, etc. - along with the music and overall atmosphere? It creates a level of immersion that Crimson Desert doesn't come close to matching.

It's easy to downplay ER now since a lot of people have replayed it multiple times, but back in 2022, that first experience was genuinely something special. By comparison, many of Crimson Desert's environments just feel like higher-fidelity versions of Black Desert Online zones - which makes sense given they share a similar world and design foundation. Nothing I've seen even comes close to ER's atmosphere and ambiance.

Completely subjective take and as usual you're completely missing the mark. Multiple enemy types equals immersion? No dummy. In ER its tone and mood, created by long stretches of silence atmosphere followed by creshendos of epic fights. In Crimson Desert Its shadows and lightning and the world feeling lived in. Day/Night cycles. Weather effects. Walking into a smoky gambling den. The countryside coming alive and going about its day. Not the mention the graphics are far and away better (this was my original point and is mainly objective, which of course you missed). Still, like I said immersion is a subjective take because you might like the bleak dark atmosphere of Fromsoft shit more and that's fine. Don't get me wrong I think ER is the best game ever made but when we're talking about pure immersion (again, a subjective take for your little brain) I'm giving it to this game. I've had just as many WOW moments in the first few hours of this game as I did with ER.

Also stop watching people play games and just buy it. Fucks wrong with you man.

Clearly you have a big hard-on for this game and I'm not going to bother arguing with somebody who believes the above statement. It's completely subjective, as you said. But that opinion is fucking wild to me.

I'm glad you're enjoying it and wasted $70 on it. I enjoy BDO, so PA making more money as a studio helps me get more updates.

Been fighting a boss for 5 hours today, and several yesterday. 40 burritos and a dream.

He constantly talks to "mr cameraman" who is inside the church messing everything up. I think this is the boss that many reviewers mentioned in terms of camera, constant attacks, revives being an issue. He doesn't have any revives, but seen others complain that when you respawn you do so out of combat so to speak, with weapons sheathed, so the barrage of attacks that a boss can initiate right as you respawn will kill you before you have time to pull out a shield or weapon to block.

And.... it makes me want to buy the game again..... Fight looks fun in a PTSD sort of way with the Nioh 3 boss I struggled with.

As to
To D Droigan what controls felt so janky that you refunded less than 2hrs in? I'm curious.

The fact I couldn't rebind controller, which I like to use more than Kb/m in game such as this. And that even before the game really started you had multiple buttons to press to use abilities. It is a getting used to it thing probably, but I knew it would get worse. Did not like the same buttons being used for the same things, because the multi button press combos were still not enough.

Perhaps it would get better though if they added the ability to rebind + if you have a controller with more buttons like the elite versions of Xbox or PS5? I use the base PS5 version.

Mobs are not aggro for a few seconds after using a Pill, so you have time to either heal up and/or start attacking them.

Yesterday I found a puzzle near Kliff's House, used Google to solve it...might have been a mistake. One of the rewards for it displays 7(8) locations for Caves hidden behind waterfalls, and a hidden cave in a village. The village one led to another puzzle, and another reward that displayed another 8 caves. Out of all of them, 14 had loot, if I hadn't already enhanced the deluxe edition armor, I'd use some pieces, but they all had useful Abyss Gears that I extracted and put into the Kairos armor. There were two weapons as well, which were better than the 1h axes I had been using. Really need a Storage chest asap. The last cave I went too had a nice looking black chest piece, but it can't be enhanced (had lvl7 frost resist though).

Also, the design for these caves hidden behind waterfalls was super annoying. You have to use the Stab skill to pass through the waterfall since it lunges forward quickly, otherwise you get knocked back. My Xbox elite controller must have some drift because it just cannot stab straight forward 90% of the time. The Stabby puzzles are just as bad super frustrating day, lol.

Not having a clue what I was getting into - I started the Reed fight at fucking 10PM at night. Climbed all the way up that fkn mountain in pitch dark. By the time I got to the final battle / open field - I said fuck this, and just went and did laundry and shit and let time pass. Fucking awful fighting his quick little ass in the dark. Beat him first go, too. But I straight chugged through some food on the way up there. So much shit was blind siding me.

The screencap from earlier is from the bounty right after him. That whole village is full if people that have his looks - so Im looking forward to the follow up story. But if I have to fight hkm again Im going to be annoyed af.

I honestly think that once PA has some solid analytics from this launch, that they are going to put in some really great DLC/expansions. I am 100% here for it. People say the game is as deep as a puddle, so thatll leave plenty of room for expansion. But at the same time, I domt fucking want some of this shit to be deeper. With as much stuff thats in this game, shallow is “good enough”. Pile in some more lore, regions and bosses and I am ALL good.

The breadth of content and volume is frankly unbelievable. In just the first town you unlock you open up quest after quest after quest but they only open if you do some unnamed, unmarkered quest or event and it feels neverending. I thought I was headed to the next region after 26 hours… nope, go kill a spider queen bitch! Stayed up late and haven’t done that for a game in forever. Really into this feedback loop for whatever reason. Also thank god for YouTube, looked up tons of quest guides already haha
