Also avoid fighting the crimson terror asshole thing in the dark. That sucked pretty bad, I can't imagine even trying reed devil in the dark.
Well in fairness I didn't know what I was getting into. When I realized it was too late. I try not to spoil the game and enjoy the exploration.

I basically had to spam food and R1/R2.

my buddy has put 80+ hours into the game and loves it but he was a hardcore Wow player who loved grinding forever (like some of you EQers) and this filled that little missing hole since all of us quit MMOs years ago.

I think an extremely broad game but very shallow describes it perfectly. There are a million systems and things to do but ultimately its all pretty shallow. Fun if you love the sandbox and spending hours in it (Skyrim, No Mans Sky, Minecraft, etc) but if you prefer a guiding narrative (Uncharted, RDR2) or deep lore/dense layered systems (Elden Ring) then this may not be your cup of tea. I'll definitely play when its on gamepass/ps+/etc or deep discount but i still haven't played cyberpunk 2077, kingdom come 2, or yakuza infinite wealth and those seem like better versions of this game.

Thankfully I can do both types of games. Open world rpg where you explore and try tons of different things or an on rails story driven one. Sometimes even a mix of them.

So how does the other party members thing work? all I ever see is people playing the main dude.
Once they are unlocked you have the option of Summoning them to fight with you, or to play as that other character.
