Beat this last night after playing casually for the last week or so.

Got hung up a little on the candy chick and the roller coaster in world 2 but otherwise did pretty good.

This is definitely tougher than Contra, but I always thought Ghosts and Goblins was the hard one.

Great game, frustrating at times but stick with it and you'll get through it.

Music, art, design, controls all top notch.

Not sure what journalists you follow, all the reviews I've read have been overwhelmingly positive and listed the difficulty as a good thing! Its Metacritic scores are 87 for XBox and 89 for PC. Not too shabby!

Finished normal this weekend and started expert. Seems like everything moves about twice as fast and some of the attacks can go off at the same time like that frog boss will do fireflies and hadokuns at once. One disappointment is the run and gun levels don't get an expert mode.

It's crazy how I'll be stuck on a boss' second or third phase forever, but suddenly I'll just breeze right through the whole encounter without losing a single hp. Like God determined that I had suffered enough
