I don't think hosting the EQ client is "expensive". This isn't newer graphics, these are all early 2000 textures/models..

The Issue is they were advertising "Pay-4-Services", I am sure that DBG wouldn't really care if all they were asking for is server hosting costs, but even that it doesn't seem like it requires much in the hardware department, it's the connection that is the problem.

But honestly, if a single Emulated server is causing that much of a cut into revenue. They got bigger problems, coming down the road.

Doubt it made much of a dent in the revenue but for a lawsuit to stick you want to show damages. The actual amount of financial damage isn't as relevant as proving that there was some.

Uhh, no, that is not the case at all for copyright infringement cases. THJ is going to get assfucked here no lube. The only thing DBG has to prove is that THJ used their IP without authorization and received money for doing so, which, is a very simple discovery. The bullshit about damages is just to get the courts to give them even more beyond whatever THJ took in. Just the money taken in and DBG's law beast costs for all this is going to put a hurt on THJ. Now it may be puffery and smokescreens for DBG's investors as well, but the underlying case and law is cut and dry. THJ is going to be paying long and hard. Every penny donated + whatever "damages" + lawyer costs, their own and DBG's.

There is a possible positive outcome, where THJ is forced to keep their thing going to pay off their debt to DBG. Let those donations go towards that and server costs.

I was responding to the last line in the post above mine about whether it made a big cut on revenue. I think the size of the cut doesn't matter as much as whether the court believes there was indeed some. But yea I agree with you, no way they're going to get out from under the copyright infringement claim.
