yea you're right, which is funny because the eqemu codebase is atrocious... i guess it's kind of impressive how it was built over the years, large parts by random people that have come and gone. (talking pre akkadius)... always wish i could see the real server source

The main innovation being "host a server that's free to play." Because that is what is most important to about 90% of emu players, anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. If you ever talk to emubots, they will often admit they play emu specifically because it is free.

Now, some of the emus are pretty cool and creative--but I will note the hoi polloi of these forums usually foam at the mouth wanting a "return to basics" EQ and jerk off until their penis is chafed over Brad McQuaid's original design.

These same people also then say THJ is the best thing since sliced bread--a server that lets you triple-class a single character and wear such extreme hyper-inflated gear that you can solo in-era raid bosses.

The only good conclusion is all emu players, and all EQ players, are absolute fucking idiots who should have a plastic bag cinched over their heads for about 10 minutes and if this was done at scale the world would be a far better place.

They specifically tuned down all raid content so that you can solo it in era.

That was my understanding but when I said that in Discord the other day a THJ player told me they haven't changed the boss powers, the bosses just don't have MOTM, but player power is higher because of the THJ hyper-itemized gear.

No idea which is true just going off what I heard. Since I'm neither homeless or addicted to crack I don't play EQ emus, but I think whichever narrative is correct it is accurate to say they make the raids dramatically easier than designed whether it be through nerfing the bosses or buffing player power.

It's mostly through player power, but there are fight specific things like no time limit on Rathe Council and Vallon in Plane of Time not having a 20 second stun.

But really the thing that best illustrates how bad DBG sucks is AOCs.
THJs instantly spin up, DBG you need to wait for it to slowly load.
DBG says they can't do multiple version of the same zone on the same server. Multiple versions of the same zone work just fine on THJ.
DBG says they can't make certain NPCs spawn in DZs like Broken Golem/Wraith of Shissar. THJ has those spawn on DZ up just fine.
DBG loses DZs due to crashes. THJ doesn't.

THJ devs directly pocket money from their kr sales, EQ devs have to do back handed side deals by not suspending certain people

THJ only have to innovate existing content, EQ devs have to create new content for 50% of the companys revenue

THJ doesnt have devs that need Economy / medical degrees to make basic 64-bit related changes

THJ lets poor people experience all content , EQ devs make the game an active 2nd job

DBG has to employ people to actively sort through the retards on forums and discord, EQ devs get told people want a level capped luclin start server, Players get mad when thats exactly what they made

Except they fucking didn't. People were bitching when it came out because level cap was 50 and they couldn't even gain AA's. So players didn't get what they want that on top of other things that people didn't want such as they didn't want a normal rule set server they wanted free trade.

i know you are unable to read (aside from posts that support your deluison) but if you actually look at the official forum, a slow paced /level restricted/hot zone change / beastlord start server was requested on most of the threads

they did literally want the forumn dwellers wanted, when they have settled on a concept only minor deviations from that will ever change, so the backlash is honestly irrelevant.

Ive never been banned from the discord, i post quite often pointing our cheaters / dev incompetence / "wild takes" / trolling etc ... you only get banned for longer than an hour if your a far right/ trump loving american patriot / racist!

fangbreaker is literally what happens when you listen to people on the forumns, lets hope it never happens again

THJ has a suggestion portion on their discord that allows people to vote on changes and voice their opinions. DBG has forums run by fat lazy DEI hire karens that have banned everyone that isn't a sycophant

They did most things right but the 2box rule ruined the entire server. It would have been fun to box stuff with friends but the 2box rule just makes it not fun. The company cut their own leg off and then blamed THJ. It's hilarious because before the lawsuit, I was so confused about the ruleset. They literally put rules in that every idiot on earth knew would make them less money than if they didn't have the rule.

The main improvement BEYOND not having the 2box rule was if they lowered the level requirement for AAs. Let rangers and other people get their lvl 59-60 AAs at either 50, 51 or 55. Anything but waiting till 60. They had the right idea but they absolutely ruined it.

Bazaar open day 1 was great. Mounts, great. A bunch of new zones to level in, great. Beastlords, great. So many great things and then they ruined it lol. And, the biggest issue is they put so many rules on 1 server, and it sucks. So, how do they know which rule made it bad. They get no proper info as to which rules were good and which were bad.

I'm not much of a conspiracy person but I 100% think they shot themselves in the foot on purpose. There is no explanation for how else the 2box rule got through the team and put on the server. Someone with only 2 brain cells could tell you that a 2box rule will make less money than not having the 2box rule.

personally i think they knew it was DOA whatever they released due to teek, so they wanted to see if the no box crowd was a supportive majority or a vocal minority and i think we got the answer (even if its skewed for other reasons)

Not a single fucking person asked to be locked at 50, not a single fucking person because they knew when they hit 50 they couldn't even farm AA, people wanted a server with free trade, they didn't get this. Yes people wanted beastlord but they also wanted the no race/class restriction start which guess what they also didn't do.

Were they? I saw no free trade for this year's TLP and knew it wasn't worth wasting a second on. They should enable that on all the servers at this point just to try to get a few dozen people to give EQ a try again in general.
