The laws of nature don't apply to humans might be the single dumbest thing said in this thread, and it's a competitive field.

Mrniceguy's attempts to interpret law were in the lead, but he was able to admit he was wrong a few posts back, so it is neck and neck now.

THJ folks aren't making a statement.

Their discord still has heaps of people that have no fucking clue that server is going down in a few days tops.

kinda surprising that THJ is still up tbh. If Daybreak doesn't put up the 1mil bond by COB monday to start the injunction then something fishy is happening. Like they don't have 1 million in cash available to put up for bond? According to their financials they clear 1mil a month in revenue and it takes, at most, 4-5 months to clear 1 mil in pure profit...They've owned the company since what, 2015? Surely they should have cash on hand to cover the bond.

I mean they were literally purchased by a russian oligarch's money laundering operation and the way they've ran the company since then allowing GMs to run botting rings and krono cartels to milk disability checks from all the trailer parks ie EQ players certainly suggests it's still a money laundering operation. Gonna be hilarious if they can't cover the bond.

sorry, I was busy yesterday and missed shit posting saturday so accept my tribute today

They have until Friday, but I think they will get it in earlier. The decision came in on Friday, and offices and banks don't really do much on weekends..

You don’t even typically have to put up the full amount for surety bonds, right? I’m no expert on this but I assume you just pay a percentage, and it’s a small percentage at that.

I occasionally have to get surety bonds at work but it’s never something I’m directly involved in.

They probably have to pay more like $10-50k, not a million in cash…if they had a million in cash to put up there’d be no reason to have a bond.

Yes, I work in commercial insurance, surety bonds are regularly sold for court cases to companies involved in litigation. My company will write $3m and lower bonds for companies pretty liberally (above that are subject to stricter review), some extremely high percentage of court surety bonds for commercial litigation are just returned at the end of the case so it's a very low risk business as long as the underlying company has assets / money etc. Since DBG is a subsidiary of EG7 which is publicly traded, it won't be an issue for them to get one from any commercial insurer of which there's like a dozen big players in the U.S.

If they don't put up the bond it won't be because they couldn't get one, it will be for some weird reason.

Also a plaintiff's surety bond isn't like when Bob's Bail bonds bails out your neighborhood crack head, who is a high risk entity and usually has to pay 10% of the bond upfront. Plaintiff's surety bonds will often be in the range of a 1-2% premium of the bonded amount, so we may only be talking like $20,000 on this $1m bond.

Oh i thought this was like wednesday or thursday last week....I guess i'll give them a pass if it was friday....

but then again, if they only need to front 20k then there's really no excuse not to have knocked it out friday afternoon? This was a fucking emergency injunction their company will go bankrupt if the judge doesn't grant it (their argument) but they can just take their time now?

Something afoot

**Heroes**, we know you are all waiting for an announcement from us.

But in this moment, there is a gravity to what we say and how we say it.

There are many moving parts to all of this, and lots of big feelings. We want to make sure that we are correct in not only what we share, but when we share, and the manner in which we share it.

There may not be an official announcement from us for a couple of days.

Please be patient with us <:8bitheart:50556832826222182

I could be wrong, my sense of time is ambiguous on the best of days.

Edit: Looked at the previous page, it was Friday afternoon.

Well I was hoping to see GoD because I quit playing during PoP but regardless I had a great time on this and it really was a creative and well designed system. I know people are shitting on THJ devs for their greed and in hindsight they were pretty stupid for the way they went about it but I have to give them props, it's not like it was some low effort scam for cash.. there really was a lot of good work put into this. I also don't buy that THJ is solely responsible for killing the emu industry, it was a ticking time bomb waiting to happen. If not TMF then I'm sure the turtle wow or something else would have started the implosion. In the end, I think the THJ guys are going to suffer the loss of most of their profits anyways.

I tried playing project 99 and it was boring as shit. I'm too old to play traditional MMORPGs and I have no desire to depend on others to play a game. THJ gave me a chance to enjoy EQ like I was 18 again without the necessity to throw my life away on a raid schedule. I quit about 3 weeks ago because I finally beat hard mode zeb and there was nothing more to achieve so I guess I got in and out at the right time.

It doesn't have to be all black and white. THJ both violated the shit out of daybreaks intellectual property and designed one hell of a fun experience.

Win or lose is irrelevant. In the end, DBG has become the enemy of the players.

When I see this thread, in my mind, I read it as "Daybreak Sues Players". That's what my mind's eye sees every time I see this thread. On a psychological level, I don't see this as an intellectual property infringement law suit. I see this as a company declaring war on their customers. I know I can't be the only one.

SoE always had a bad taste in most gamer's mouths for the slimy corrupt shit they did over the decades, but this takes it to the a whole new level. No longer are they fucking their customers with corrupt policies and procedures, but now they are actively suing them.

I cancelled my EQ subscriptions earlier this year, and after this, I will never, ever even think about resubbing ever again.

DBG has obliterated anything that was left of the faith that their customers had in them as a company. At this point, they are a straight up disgrace to the industry. All employees at DBG should be blacklisted from any companies in the gaming industry. Period.

But... we know they don't give a shit in the least bit. They're too busy recycling a couple more old zones, making iterative upgrades to existing spells and abilities, and packaging it in to yet another failed expansion, and designing their next pride pet to give away.

They should rename DBG to DFAM. Delusion Fucking Anti-customer Morons.

I hope they enjoy their failing piece of shit of a game and look forward to their unemployment. Let us hope those fucks never get hired anywhere else except maybe McDonalds.

This doesn't necessarily mean that the THJ is 100% dead. It just means that the servers are coming down until the court case is finished. I still ultimately believe THJ wins the case because of Equitable Estoppel, reading the Judges response it's clear she understand the law, but doesn't understand the facts of the case because her knowledge of EQ is very lacking. The real question is how much do the THJ devs believe they will win.
