I bet they would make some pretty amazing (in the realm of EQ...) money on custom private servers.

The only thing is, how would they make money? because you couldn't just do "Super Subs" they need that Krono Lording to happen.

This "Solo / self hosted" concept is why I think that if Project Lantern ever comes about, that it'll get sued into oblivion too...

If its all hosted outside US jurisdiction, I would think they are ok. Maybe even EU jurisdiction, no clue how they handle IP.

I think the issue would be, how would they do payment to sell all their stuff. All the major CC people have would be subjected to US law I would think, and even things like paypal or other means of payment. At least the ones people in the US would use.

I'm far from an expert though , so who knows.

literally in the time since the injunction was granted on friday you could have downloaded this game fresh, leveled 2-3 characters to max level with a few thousand AA each, ran all raid content 4 times each character, be full BIS and gotten at least $30 worth of their "donation" currency for free as drops. no fucking clue what these idiots were spending 100k a month on but it's clear that they must have stolen a few dozen whales from TLP servers and crippled daybreaks cash flow.

I really didn't think there was any overlap before since they are such different experiences but somehow EQ makes 1mil per month from 20k players, Daybreak has to protect each and every one of their whales, and these guys bringing in 100k per month from 25k players when there's zero advantage from their cash shop it's clear it's just mentally disabled people who are addicted to wasting money in cash shops, same dudes spending thousands per month on candy crush and shit.

Most European countries honor US copyrights and vice versa. The fact that THJ cares at all about this tells me they're in one of those countries.
