July 14th they're merging all servers down to 3. 2 US based, 1 EU. The move isn't automatic though. They plan on leaving the old servers open for 2 years for people to transfer but after that anybody not transferred is getting nuked.

Went through all my characters on all my accounts. Was trippy logging into the psuedo-Fires of Heaven guild on Ghallandra we had going for a few months and seeing a bunch of names I haven't seen in 15 years.

Its SSG we are talking about here. Those servers wont be left open for 2 years to transfer from. They just did this same thing to Lord of the Rings Online. They said that free transfers would be open until August and that they would reevaluate the old 32bit servers at a later date to determine if the populations have dropped enough to warrant shutting them down. Then a couple weeks ago, they announced they will be shutting the 32bit servers down, so get out now.

Get your characters transferred off of the old servers asap. No matter what they say, they will change it later at the drop of a hat with little to no warning.

Woah. DDO isn't dead yet?
It's doing decently. They average two new dungeons every 6 months or so that you do once or twice for the mudflated loot and then go back to endlessly doing the same three dozen easily exploited quests for your 900th TR.

Unsurprisingly they botched opening the new servers and transfers are being delayed for now.

Just went in and deleted my toons on all servers other than the one I have been playing on the past... god knows how many years. Free transfers end 8/31 if anyone else is still playing and hasn't done the thing,

I still play, but not regularly. I tend to play in spurts of a few weeks then take a couple months off.

I haven't played any of the new Ravenloft expansion because the 64-bit servers are in a sorry state.

I need to go in and try to figure out my goddamn login and password. My monk wasn't leveled 20, but he had some pretty good kit, and I was one of those games that my buddies and I would occasionally fire back up and rock and roll.

It really is just a bunch of light-hearted fun except it gets pretty min-maxy, but we never tried to take it too seriously.

What server should I transfer my characters to?
Thrane (US) and Shadowdale (EU) have the highest populations, but also crippling lag. Cormyr (US) has a lower population, but not nearly as laggy.

It depends on how confident you are the lag will be fixed.

The entire purpose of moving to the 64-bit servers was to fix it, but SSG is one of the worst run companies on planet Earth.
