Yeah my room is filled with more zip ties and rolls of duct tape than even the biggest bondage freak.

My pet peeve is =worthless fucking 5.25 bays still being put on cases these days. I can understand on generic cases, but for cases that are meant for big time gamers they are absolutely useless. Ive had zero use for a optical drive since 2009 and all they do is get in the way.

Going to be removing the one in my C70 to prep it for triple 140mm intakes.

stuff that we never use, like powerpoint.
A place that doesn't use PowerPoint as a crutch to explain everything to everyone? I'm intrigued and wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

The place I work at uses it for almost everything, all day, every day. It's like a set of training wheels that everyone carries around for life.

We are very low BS, which keeps me in this part of the sector. It's about go to work, do your job, and at the end of the day (so to speak) have something on a truck out of the shop to the customer.

I'm upper management here. If I want to know how much we have gotten paid on a job I walk down the hall to the controller and ask him. If I have a problem with HR I would down to the other end of the office and ask her. If we have an issue with a customer 2-3 of us sit in an office or conference room and call them and we expect an answer right now. Same with the shop, it beaks up the day and sitting on my ass all day. I go out their offices, it's a 5 minute walk and talk to them. If there are questions on if we are providing something I walk down to the sales VP office (next to mine) and talk to the purchasing VP (his brother). Face time i guess lol. That's the reason we have kick off meetings on jobs so you can put a face with a name if you get an email from them.

I really don't understand the corporate BS talk I see a lot on the net. I guess we're too small.

I have an offer on the table curently that would bring me back closer to "home" with CB&I but it's a fortune 500 copany. I would fit in like a square peg in a round hole.

I'm jealous. That is all.

Given the choice to stay where you're at or go to a Fortune 500, it would have to be one hell of an offer to make me move and give up relative simplicity.

That said, I'm an IT guy, and the larger companies do tend to play with the bigger toys. That's always going to be a draw for people like me. With the toys comes the BS, and that's pretty much always going to be the case.

I have zero patience for anything. I guess it works out in the end. I gravitated to the ultra quick turnaround work in this sectory for that reason I guess. Get it done now at any cost seems to be the motton.

I can see it has a lot of pluses tho. For a lot of people I would guess it would be less aggravation and more structured and less seat of your pants.

I'm 44 and I'm the youngest person at work minues our new IT person. Been that way since I got out of high school which really doesn't lend to being on the cutting edge of computer tech.

The new IT guy is just as lost as myself. He kind of wants to look at what other companies do. There are no other companies. The closest is our sister comapny 2 hours away and they do what we do only service another industry and are quite larger.

To boldy go where no man has gone before. I said that one day and he said "huh".

Speaking of not being patient, picked up a 34UM65 today. I was set on waiting on an X34, but figured I'd see if it scratches the itch for a ultrawide half that price ... and 20 minutes in I think it has, very much so. Having it sitting next to my Qnix 1440p panel helps show how much better it could be, but I think this will tide me over for a while.

Google is acting like safe search is enabled ALL THE TIME now even tho it's not checked to filter content nor is safe search enabled in settings.

Doesn't matter if I'm signed in or out. Still does the same searches and everytihing is PG rated at most.

Welp.

The bug of wanting to build something for the sake of building something bit me again today. I'm buying a new computer. Based on updated reviews/benchmarks from Skylake I'm going to be getting something similar to what I posted a couple days back but with much faster DDR4 RAM.

Skylake is just... not sure. Guess I'm keeping my mildly overclocked 3570k for a bit longer and just getting a new case and more memory. And then whatever pascal ends up being.

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, not sure where else to put it.

Getting random BSOD's roughly 15 minutes after boot up and I have no idea why. Running Win7 home SP1 on an ASRock Z68 Extreme 4 mobo, i7-2600k oc'd to 4.2ghz, gtx 970, 8gigs gskill ram, a small ssd with windows/OS on it, a larger ssd with a few games, and an hdd for storage. 750watt PSU.

I've had this PC since September 2011 and never had any issues with it. Only non-original parts are the larger ssd I got a year ago and the 970 a few months ago. I didn't make any changes or do anything out of the ordinary that might have caused it. I've Googled numerous solutions and couldn't find anything that worked; even tried rolling back windows update stuff to before the issue arose.

The BSOD header is always bad_pool_header and the codes at the bottom of the most recent crash were:
STOP: 0x00000019 (0x0000000000000020, 0xFFFFFA8007C7B4D0, 0xFFFFFA8007C7B550, 0x000000000C080001)

Anyone have any idea?
