if you can wait on monitors a little bit longer I would try, I have a korean shimian 27" 1440p that OCs to 90hz (it can do 120hz but gets some blue lines sometimes so I said fuck it), a 2560x1080p 29" wide dell, and a bunch of other older monitors. the korean is nice, use it for 8 hours at a stretch sometimes no problem. Maybe if you are super sensitive you will notice the light bleed but I don't, at all. The bleed is from the very edges and you need a dark room with a dark screen situation (movie etc) to notice it. I will say though if you are a graphics person the 1440p koreans are probably not a good idea, my wife is very picky about colors and says the screens are too blue if she tries to photoshop on it. I don't really know what the fuck she is talking about, but I like blue so I don't care.
The big problem is that none of the current 1440p monitors will be gSync compatible, and gSync looks like it'll make everything a lot less blurry at high FPS since it will allow monitors to sync with GPU frame rates, which is great nowadays since video games can go wildly from 20 fps to 120 fps as you move around. It'll help with cooling too since you wont need to have your GPU go balls to the wall if you choose a lower FPS and monitor hz to match, like 48 or 60 or 90, whereas right now you mostly have to turn vsync off and go for max FPS and hope you get consistent 60-120 fps.
