Its a decently large case - maybe the largest ive used
largest for me was a supermicro 750

the sidepanel alone would weigh more than any case i currently have, and would probably do decently well against a .22

PATA cables alone took up half those old cases.
these were just essential back then

what i remember pata being annoying was that if you wanted great performance for disk duplication, you had to put the source and target cdreader and cdwriter on different pata buses so had to be like pata1 slave 2, pata 2 slave2

and that was just a mess trying to do.

Wish I had enough guts to build me a hardline system. That looks fabulous.

I dont, but i can update you - i got a Bykski 3090 WB that apparently doesnt fit the 3090 so atm my 3090 is just a PCB until i get a proper fitting WB for it - Thermaltake still hasnt got stock of the distro-plate, but fortunately my 3080 still gets 4k120 in Apex which is all im playing at the moment.

It does look fantastic, I don't feel confident enough in the methods either to do it. I see too many horror stories from people fucking up and losing components to leaks. I'll stick with my soft tubing. I really like the EKWB tubing, that's what I got.

Whats the price (low to high) for making a watercooled system from scratch? Not that I'm thinking of doing it right now but kinda curious if one gets bored later on.

Ok, so looks like its time to upgrade my PC. Bought it in early 2019 to replace a 8yr old comp.

Heres what I got:
Ryzen 5 2600
ROG Strix x470
RX 570
750w gold power supply
LG 32GK650F

Looks like the support for the new Ryzen chips is going ot be 2021 for my MB? So, tempted to go one generation back on the CPU, and the new AMD GPU . . . worth it waiting until 2021 to replace the CPU with the new MB drivers?

Just really need to replace the GPU, knew that when I bought it and it was a known placeholder but did well enough I never felt pressure to upgrade it. With the deluge of GPUs right now, its the right time imo.

Anyway, looking for suggestions so I can try to grab some stuff on black friday and release of the AMD GPUs.

Detailed items:
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler - YD2600BBAFBOX
ASUS ROG Strix X470-F Gaming AMD Ryzen 2 AM4 DDR4 DP HDMI M.2 ATX Motherboard
Sapphire 11266-09-20G Radeon Nitro+ RX 570 8GB GDDR5 Dual HDMI / DVI-D / Dual DP with Backplate (UEFI) PCI-E Graphics Card
WD Blue 3D NAND 500GB PC SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s, M.2 2280 - WDS500G2B0B
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2, 80+ GOLD 750W, Fully Modular, EVGA ECO Mode, 10 Year Warranty
Corsair CMK16GX4M2Z3200C16 Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3200 (PC4-25600) C16 1.35V for AMD Ryzen Black

Depends on what you want to do really. Do you mind used parts? New only? Can you drag out the purchases over time waiting on deals? Search Craigslist and Offerup for people selling stuff and not knowing it's worth? Single loop? Dual loop? Distro plate? All that factors in.

EKWB offers full kits as well as individual parts and you can usually pick up all the fittings much cheaper at Microcenter for some reason. Their full on kits are stupid expensive if you ask me, but If you went with a small custom loop you could probably do it for a few hundred bucks. I bought a bunch of B stock for tubing, hand me down fittings and a 2nd hand radiator, CPU block and a new pump since that is a critical component. Afterwards I started collecting parts for a nicer dual loop setup as they went on sale and just setting them aside until I got to where I wanted.

Required for a small loop
Radiator
Fans
Waterpump
Resevoir
Fittings
Tubing
CPU waterblock

You wont find any of the new stuff on sale during black friday in terms of GPU. Depends how much you really want to spend - I think the 3070 is right at the value mark at $499. But nvidia stock has been AIDS
