Definitely check your temps, if the fans are running super fast/loud the actual heatsink portion may not be properly mounted to the cpu.

I have an h105 or something like that and it idles at like ~20-25c on a 6700k, so it should keep most cpus at 30c or less under no load. Highest I think I've ever seen my temps go was like 60-65c?
I got my silverstone strider 850w psu and small cable kit in today. So I redid the cable management. I noticed the main pump fan has a splitter that it wants both fans to be connected to instead of the motherboard. So I hooked them up there and now it's pretty quiet. Nothing near like before. I also added 8 more gigs of RAM for 16 gigs total. Now just need a new GPU in the future.

I just wish a 27"+ 4K IPS 144Hz G-Sync monitor would get released. I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Probably won't be coming out any time soon though. Womp womp.
Just that ? I want a 40" 4k IPS 4:4:4 that does[email protected]/* <![CDATA[ */!function(t,e,r,n,c,a,p){try{t=document.currentScript||function(){for(t=document.getElementsByTagName('script'),e=t.length;e--;)if(t[e].getAttribute('data-cfhash'))return t[e]}();if(t&&(c=t.previousSibling)){p=t.parentNode;if(a=c.getAttribute('data-cfemail')){for(e='',r='0x'+a.substr(0,2)|0,n=2;a.length-n;n+=2)e+='%'+('0'+('0x'+a.substr(n,2)^r).toString(16)).slice(-2);p.replaceChild(document.createTextNode(decodeURIComponent(e)),c)}p.removeChild(t)}}catch(u){}}()/* ]]> */with G-Sync. There's a Sony TV that does everything beside G-Sync but it has 20ms input lag or some shit.

On the other side of the spectrum, Asus will release a 24" IPS 1440p 144Hz G-Sync ROG Swift sometime later in the year, this should be interesting for people who want a more affordable and not as large version of the 27" model.

24" 1440p sounds like a horrible idea. G-Sync just needs to come down in price.

Well, there is going to be a 24" TN 1080p 144Hz G-Sync Asus monitor coming out in the next couple of months (PG248q). Will probably be priced below 500 dollars/euros, but...it's not IPS.

They have 27" 4k IPS G-Sync out now, they're just all 60 Hz or under. All I want is the 144 Hz, is that so much to ask?

Why don't more companies make 25 inch 1440p monitors? 24 is too small, 27 is a bit too big.

Too many size options and the costs would increase. We don't need TVs and monitors available in every 1-inch increment from 19 to 100+. Gotta draw the line somewhere, which seems to be every 2-3 inches until you get to about 35 then it goes in mostly 4-5 inch increments.

What can I safely overclock a 6700k to with a Hyper evo 212? I have solid airflow into and out of the case. I was thinking 4.5ghz but not sure if that's too much.

Gonna have to be trial and error. 4.5 shouldn't be too bad, but what are your current idle/under load temps?

Why do you want to overclock it?

Here are some supposed 3DMark benchmarks of the reference designed 1080

20% faster than a Titan X, 25% faster than a 980Ti, 66% faster than a 980 and 100% faster(double) than a 970

Just picked up my first intel, a i7 6700 for 250 at jet. Since it's a i7 I wasn't really looking into overclocking it. Just thought it was a great deal. Just gotta learn the motherboard types and what goes best with it. AMD was so much simpler.
