Yeah, my 7800X3D is usually around 62-67C when playing something pretty intense. I'm usually only under 60c on games that I could run on a Core 2 Duo.

oh ok cool then, was just gonna say if you went w/ the splits and later on you noticed a pump noise (not a bad noise, just noise), you could remedy that w/ using the all in one, happened to me after a few months, i noticed it, it's a htpc so my ears not right next to it like a regular pc would be (so it was probably going on for a while), anyway it has to do w/ some mb's treating different pump speeds/fan speeds different while the all in one cable makes it all sync.

Playing doom my 9800x3d hit 50C max (on air). I don't think the new ones get as hot?
They did change how the 3D cache was positioned so that it would be less insulating. That said, when loading maps on PoE1, it will max out my 7800X3D, which can push it into the 70s and low 80s celsius. Max out, as in 100% load according to Windows task manager, not 100% of one core.

Using a Thermalrite Peerless Assassin. I am considering something else as I'm pretty sure I'm getting fan frequency whine from it.

It really depends on how CPU heavy the app is. Games that are optimized well and don't slam your CPU for no good reason, it's usually in the 53-58C range. But, if a game is optimized poorly or has heavy loading sequences, 60+ is pretty common.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as the temps aren't sitting pegged at 75C+ constantly. Modern CPUs are designed to run slightly lower than the temperature of the sun.

Starting to get a minor itch to get a new PC. Did nvidia ever stop shitting the bed and having the 50x0 cards bursting into flame? Is Intel or AMD better these days?
AMD is the go to for CPU with their X3D line. Nvidia has faster cards but $$$$$$$$$$$$ and good luck finding them in stock anywhere near MSRP. I did all AMD this go round and do not regret it a bit.

Burren Burren Make sure you have resizable bar support enabled for your GPU. Nvidia control panel > Help > System Information and make sure Resizable BAR says Yes. If no, you need to enable it in your bios.

How was building in the Flux Pro? Ever since I saw this shown off at Computex, I've been thinking I just might splurge for it if it ever gets released. I always joked that the only case I'd consider getting for looks would be a full Noctua brown theme.

I’m not familiar with that setting, but I’ll look at it in the morning.

this is the best case I’ve used in the past 25 years. So much space to work with. Two full sized GPUs can fit no problem. It’s heavy, but really sturdy and I like how modular it is for everything. Amazing channels and slots for cable management (which I need to pretty up now that it’s working properly).

It was a great recommendation.

The last 3 mobos i used all had it enabled by default so its likely already on.
