The best i7 you can afford, even the six core if not out of your price range, with a couple of 250 gig ssds or bigger if you can afford it. Then use on board graphics or get a cheap 7850 or even 7750 gfx card, lots of ram, I would recommend 16+ gigs, even 32 gigs if you can swing it. Solid 500W power supply, $130 mo-bo....Was talking to my brother tonight and he's been having to convert (?) a lot of footage from a RED camera lately for editing and whatever film people do . anyways he was thinking about getting a PC to do it on rather than his Mac for upgrade-ability and total cost of ownership I guess. Anyways, I am up to snuff on gaming components but not sure what to recommend in the $1k range (if the price/ performance break point is in that area as well) for only video work.
Went ahead and bought all of this tonight, even the memory, since it is only $8 more than that 1333 mkopec listed in the build above mine. If it doesn't make a difference, I am sure I won't miss the $8.Preliminary post before I leave work. I have an SSD, regular HD, and Win 8.1 already. Any critiques would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah it should work but I would suggest ordering a normal ATX board and returning the other one. There should be no reason it does not work except bundlng the shit closer together, right, so it defeats the purpose you getting a larger case to spread those components out some. Cant you just cncel it and reorder? Call someone?
Read some other reviews on that board, and I like it. I agree it is a helluva board for that price. Went ahead and bought it. And it is $10 cheaper than what I was spending on the micro board! Thanks for the recommendation. Its Newegg, there's no way its shipped yet. Call and switch your order. Here's a pretty nice ASRock board to replace it; its really good for the price:Newegg.com - ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gbs USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Micro-atx boards are cool and all, but they're best as specialized builds in a micro-atx case such as the Corsair 350D. Speaking of, Corsair makes fantastic cases so good choice![]()
I'm partial toekproducts. Make sure you search for your particular card make / model when buying your blocks. Are you going to include your CPU in your loop? I've found it helpful to go to the case thread onoverclockand find out how people are setting up their loop/rads.Not to harp on it, but since I never got an answer and my post is buried several pages back now.
Any recommendations on water-cooling kits or parts brands? I'd appreciate just a direction to look(X,Y,Z brands are good).
I'd need one to cool at least 2 290X.
Thanks for the help.
