So what is going on with this game? What has made it absolutely collapse in play count lately? Has Bungie come out and acknowledged at all that shit has to change? I enjoyed this game quite a bit when I played it, but it's been quite some time, and I'm more of a passerby with the game.

I think another big nail in their proverbial coffin has been the end of the Dark and Light Saga. We killed the big bad and a lot of people have used that as a perfect narrative exit point for the game.

I liked the old planetary map that just put an icon on what planet you needed to land on to start the mission.
OMG, they don't let you play through the Light and Dark Saga? It legit was one of the (most milked but) best long running stories in gaming; Destiny basically invented the Game-As-A-Service (GAAS) genre. I first bought a PS4 only to play Destiny. If they don't have a way for new players (should really be ALL players) to experience the story, they need to split Bungie into two Studios, let me new studio (call it "Well-Kept") to run Destiny and let these current mooks (Call it "Fired Up") work on whatever disaster Marathon is going to be. It will be easier to change the company names later that way.Yeah. Then a new player turns on the game and instead of experiencing 7 years of story and baddies they get a cinematic that reveals we already killed that biggest bad. Real nice motivator. I wish D2 introduced new players like Warframe does - force them to play through the content in order. Of course, they couldn't do that because they refused to make older expansions free over time, but the public perception around Destiny would be completely different.
The game still has a pulse, but it's faint. Effectively, it's dead. Barring some miracle, it's a matter of time. Sooner than later. So what is going on with this game?
