The Moon map we played in beta is from the standard game. I'm pretty sure the DLC stuff is not even done yet. The DLC implies you go "deeper" into The Hellmouth area.

Can we nuke Neogaf off the planet? It's such a worthless community.

Fellow Bungie community manager Eric "Urk" Osborne then responded to a 60-page NeoGAF thread on the subject.

"Destiny's pretty big," he countered. "It's the biggest game we've ever made, by far, and we're sort of known for making games you can play for months, years, and even decades if you're a little bit... dedicated.

"With Destiny, we're looking to exceed what we've done before, not just in terms of scale - the Moon is our smallest destination - but in terms of scope and breadth of activities. That's true for day one, as you expect, but it also means we want Destiny to have super long legs."

The developer has plans to keep players interested "months" after launch, he continued, with "cool activities" that it has yet to show off. Better yet, Bungie is making a concerted effort to keep fans of co-operative play happy, rather than just planning to release competitive maps as it did with Halo.

"We think we did a decent job supporting Halo, post launch, but we were only ever able to cater to the competitive set," he concluded. "That left a lot of players out in the cold. That made a lot of the team grumpy. We wanted to do better. So, Destiny is philosophically built support every type of player, and all modes with ongoing activities and events."

Games pretty fun. Haven't ever played a console shooter so that's really fucking weird and I'm having trouble getting used to using an inferior aiming device. All in all though, glad I preordered.

That guy should have said nothing at all - all he confirmed was peoples suspicions of it having limited content to chew through at release. I am also not pleased with it seeming like the PVP portion is as important as the PVE portion. Perhaps its just worded weirdly from his statement but thats kinda what i gather from how its presented. I was hoping the PVP part was just kind of added on since they could do it, but that its primary focus afterward would be predominately PVE.

That could very well be the case, but thats not what it sounds like..

Yeah that more or less confirms exactly what I thought. No thank you bungie. People are going to be pissed when they get through the game in 7 hours with only some shit PvP and grinding some gear until the dlc. Shame because the combat was pretty tight unfortunately the world, story and length suck.

Go play halo again or borderlands and see how a real game should play, story be told and what kind of content there should be for release.

This game feels like $20 worth of dlc out of the gate.

They are lucky they are releasing when they are.

Cool, then we can count on you never visiting this thread again. Win win for us

The reactions about "not enough content" are so weird. We don't even know how much content there will be...

Depends - he commented on a thread with datamined strikes, missions etc. Normally you really wouldnt comment as a dev on false information, but to comment in support on information usually verifies its validity. Thing is it seems like some of those strikes are just retooled for higher levels even tho you do them earlier on. To reuse content at max level that you just did potentially hours ago leveling up is kinda weird in itself. Dont get me wrong i still plan to buy it - the time slot they have for release has no competition for them so people will gobble it up for sure. However from what it "seems" like, it just seems kinda thin on variety judging by whats be shown/said so far.

I personally am not like Grumpus and able to stomach long periods of the PVP or redo the same strike endlessly looking at the exact same scenery - Even if they recolor it for its variations it will sooner than later play itself out. Borderlands was different since it had roaming bosses and an open world that works a bit differently than that of what we've seen in Destiny "so far".

At any rates the LE is paid off and it will give me enough entertainment until Evolve launches.

I'm expecting to be disappointed with the amount of content, because my initial impression of the level 20 cap was that it would be like Guild Wars where 1-20 is just an extended tutorial that ends with you max level but only 30-50% of the way through the storyline (depending on which module you leveled in). Clearly that's not the case with Destiny. If it turns out to be less than 10 hours to complete the story/level to 20 and all there is is a gear grind padded with pvp for people who like that shit, and most of the additional content released is behind a DLC paywall, then I'll chalk it up as a lesson learned. If not, I'll be pleasantly surprised. Either way, I'm still pre-ordering the limited/guardian edition whenever I finally make up my mind about digital vs. blu-ray.

--------------------

On a different topic, what's this nonsense I see on reddit about exotics being limited to one weapon slot and one piece of armor? That sounds straight-up retarded.

I think the worst thing was someone in the media made out to be a MMO game, when its more akin to Diablo.
Diablo storyline is done in like 5 hours maybe less, and then you pretty much gear up.

Halo, and Boderlands were super quick with there Stories. With Boderlands there was really nothing to do other then hack gear, or farm gear.
Halo, and the later Halos had a multiplayer aspect tacked on to it to play after you were done with the game.

This game is reported to be bigger then any of the Halos, but lets be honest at the end of the day the game is not a sandbox per say. You will finish the story then farm gear to flex epeen, and to finish harder modes.
On the PVP side you will have more multiplayer just like the former Halos. If you dont like pvp, then you are halfing the game for yourself. Just like if you hate PVE you are only playing half the game.

I'm not sure what game you want them to give us. Did everyone expect 100 hours worth of story at launch?

I expected 8-12 hours of story. Maybe more. I expected from all of the previews that this game would be heavy on grinding and re-running content for better gear to more easily complete (and roflstomp) other content. When I saw beta it looked exactly like this with multiple missions of 2 difficulties (where I hear there will be a legendary difficulty for the same missions later on?). Aso the high end legendary gear/weapons with crazy effects just SCREAMS grinding

Yeah there is a Legendary difficulty it was in Alpha.

It's 100% a grinding game just like Diablo. It's basically a step up from Boderlands with Halo multiplayer.
The base game will get expanded through DLCs just like Boderlands.

If there are 4 large maps of size similar to earth and moon with difficluties ranging from normal, heroic, legendary then I am ok with that IF they are spending all that time making the strikes and missions fun, challenging and engaging. The temple doors opening on the moon mission and the hordes coming out was fun. Would like to see more baddies coming from eveywhere so I would need teammates.

The moon sat event where the sat falls down and hive spawn on one side while the fallen spawn on another with you in the middle was awesome to me. Only problem I had with that mission was it's ultra rarity. Still if you came upon it while on a bike with guns you could use that until you took to much damage then super into them and keep on going. Was a hell of a lot of fun for the only two of us left on the moon a couple hours after it closed.

Fought a level 7 orge and it wasn't hard but then I dodged everything. I could see an elite version being challenging. Also explored the bottom of the pit and heard the ground rumbling thing. Couldn't find a way to get to it but whatever it is they had better make it a good fight!

Just like Borderlands getting cool weapons with crazy/interesting special effects is what is going to make grinding continually fun and interesting for me. Remember those borderlands guns that shot rockets? muwhaha.

Vanilla Borderlands was 20ish hours though, assuming doing all the side quests and shit, for one playthrough(so not to level cap which required like 3 so that's 20hours or unique content). Borderlands 2 was about the same.

If this aims for 10ish while reusing content, that's pretty fucking bad. Doesn't mean the game isn't good but can't really brush it aside and say other games did the same. Diablo is more than 5hours too btw, unless you're speed running and shit. Diablo3 first playthrough took quite a while in vanilla, less so nowadays but with RoS added on it still takes a good amount of hours. If we're talking Diablo2 is was even longer.

Yeah borderlands was much juicier, by the time the first DLC came out i wasnt even finished hitting max level. I farmed bosses in it much like EQ named camps for gear and was all over it. I put in alot of hours just doing up to level 8 and farming strikes for gear so i know i will get atleast 20 hours out of the game.

I can't imagine that are aiming for 10 hours of content including max level, all side missions, difficulties and strikes. 10 hours for storyline only sure but for everything? And with grinding Borderlands was a lot more then 20 hours. That depended entirely on your own goals/desires. If you really only play these games to beat the storyline once or twice then these types of games will always be a disappointment.
