Destiny: Rise of Iron 9.20.16

Just did this weeks nightfall in about 40-45 minutes. Everything just has more health, not inherently any harder.

this weeks is the easiest nightfall though, the next two weeks are going to be a lot harder to solo if shit takes a lot longer to kill - think about the 3 wizards in summoning pits, if the boss in nexus hits a lot harder, etc. This reminds me a lot of MMOs who decide they know better than players and tweak stuff, only to recoil in horror as the weeks pass and the casuals/soloists stop logging in.

oh well good timing with me picking up GTA5, Far Cry, LBP3, and Smash Wii U this week looks like bungie is making it easy not to login to Destiny

and a couple of people have confirmed that iron banner rep WILL reset at the start of each new iron banner, so whatever rep you earn this week is only good for this week.

The weekly that just ended was pretty damn hard once the patch went live. The shields on the minos were going up way faster than i could take them down or they would teleport soon as i got it down, and it was taking 4 gjallahorn rockets per Hydra, the Reaver Captain felt like a boss rather than trash.

Summoning pits will suck especially if they fix the exploit to kill phogoth.

Solo or with a group? Apparently what they did is make it not scale down as much to prevent people from soloing. Try the Weekly solo without a burn.

Solo, sarthis and fourth joined in literally with one shot left on the boss. Almost killed him on accident before they got in, had to just hide until they were in and then one more non-precision shot took him down.

But ya, non-burns are going to be a bitch solo. I had fatebringer and p&t so everything still died quick. Most annoying was the shanks weren't a 1shot kill anymore solo with either icebreaker or p&t.

If anyone gets HM oracle checkpoint, Id like to get it (or to actually do it)

Well, it WAS a little silly that you were better off solo than grouping, the scaling was definitely fucked up. But the no-matchmaking thing remains a total mystery. I mean, their in-game group making is.. well it doesn't fucking exist at all outside of the matchmaker. Destinylfg has worked well enough for me so far though, since everyone on my friends list seems to already be running their VOGs by the time I get home in the afternoon and there's no even remotely convenient way of finding out who is looking to do what. There's no way, in game, for me to look at a friend and see "oh, they need nf and vog still, let's hook up" I can't even fucking message people from inside the game.

You know, Destiny reminds me of 1999 Everquest in that they are making a million noob mistakes yet there is still an enjoyable game underneath in defiance of all of their own ineptitude. Mostly because the community stepped in with tools like destinylfg.

Like if we actually had a significant base still interested in Destiny, we should just have a ventrillo or an IRC channel to use for our matchmaking. Because the in-game or ps4 related tools just plain fucking suck, and Bungee's clan website is a pile of wtf.

I just like the part where I shoot things.

what i do is hop onto destinylfg.net set it to vault hard mode and type oracle in the search box. keep the window open while i am doing other shit and it will constantly refresh and show people making oracle groups. immediately whisper if someone has one forming, I already did oracle/templar/3 chests twice today this way (got fatebringer twice!), only raiding I do since it takes under 30 mins to clear 1/2 of the raid.

could probably also do it on your phone/tablet if your PC isnt in the same room as your console

Not sure what they did but seems like they made everything easier since I posted earlier.

Beat hard mode without a wipe and then did 2 nightfalls and 3 weeklys in 15ish mins each.

I'll be on later tonight for Iron Banner Madness. Looks like it's only Control (same as last time?), so 6v6.

I looked at the rewards quickly last night, looks like you can get a lvl 30 armor item (legs?) at rank 3, then the other one (gloves?) at rank 4.... I might have that backwards. The only thing rank 5 seems to get you is a legendary scout rifle and a gold shader.

Also I'll be doing Nightfall first to get the exp bonus, so if anyone sees me on feel free to hop in if you still need it.

Oh....you can also buy an exp booster for 1 Mote of Light. It lasts 12 hours, and apparently will increase in effectiveness as the event goes on. Didn't get a chance to test it out yet, will be interesting to see how much of a boost it actually is. In any case, it's something actually worthwhile to spend Motes on.

Also interesting is the lvl 30 armor requires only glimmer to purchase, albeit a lot of it (I think around 9000).

IIRC the weapon you unlock at rank 5 is customizable. As in, you select what perks you want on it. That's unbelievably good, especially if it's a scout rifle. Only way it'd be better was if it was a fusion rifle, imo.

It might be. They were talking about Tishar's Lash being customizable...the one that's a random reward. Apparently if you don't like the perks you can re-roll it for a cost. I'm not sure about other weapons, but if it applies to the scout rifle that would be cool.

Also...there was a rank 4 weapon reward. I don't recall what it is now, it might have been a fusion rifle.

Supposedly you can only buy once, and it applies when you buy it. So wait until later in the week
