Since the new patch broke some of my builds, I was wondering: are you guys just browsing the official forums for build ideas, or do you have a favorite site posting them?

I've been out of the game a while, so I don't know the new hotness.
I made my own build yesterday and it seems to have caught on...the Lighting and Ice build posted a few pages back.

You can find upgrades though, even though with really good gear like 1billion stuff, it won't be that often. There's some really strong weapons though in the new legendaries so these tend to be upgraded, and slots that were kinda so so like shoulders you can also find upgrades.

Leveling a DH atm, untwinked until lvl 30(tried hellfire for a bit but trivialized early game since it one shots everything when it procs) and now using my 2 xp rings but not using like high gems and shit, class is quite a bit more fun now, a lot of fairly good changes. Turrets are cool(you can pop 2 which is nice and they do solid damage now), companions are really cool(they have an active, spider throws webs on every mob on the screen for example) and I love the new pursuit talent, 20%movespeed when you hit an enemy, it's "uncapped" speed so I zoom around during combat, also using the 20%movespeed on vault etc one for moving around and doing a mobile build. Entangling chain as my hatred builder, it's really insanely good now, it doesn't do "aoe" damage anymore, only hits one target, but it does 200%weapon damage on that target which is like the highest builder damage and the slow+movespeed difference makes it super easy to kite everything.

Interesting talent is Brooding which goes up to 4.5% max life per second regen if you stand still, this and the -25%dmg on grenades/mines/turrets and the 10%armor/AR/life passive I think could make a pretty solid tank build with a healing or shielding turret. Still need more runes before I can try it out and would need 60 too.

Loving the new patch, start playing again with my wife, she seems to like v2 a lot better than v1, but it is new, so we will see. So far so good though.

I saw your build and its really close to what some of my friends and I are running, might try your changes. I think we have frost nova instead of hydra and our passives are a bit different. Torment 3 with a medium Wiz is pretty easy. The OF have a couple of OP builds for most classes by now but they require one of the new legendaries or something like APoC etc.

I've went from paragon 95 to 100 and have yet to get an upgrade on my wiz which had something like 200m in gear

Cool, it's been working really great. The hydra is nice since its fire and forget, the lighting from him can proc the paralysis stun. Cold blooded...well that's an easy choice, you throw down blizzards which slow/freeze everything while causing them to take more damage from your massive electrocutes (chains 9 times). Dominance is just really easy to keep up with this build since your constantly mowing stuff down. I am sure there will be better builds but I am liking it a lot. I want to try stacking +light/+cold damage on gear along with attack speed (paragon levels) and see how strong it can get. The biggest problem is that there is no heavy single target spell but it hasn't been to much of an issue on T3 yet.

I crafted shoulder and gloves upgrades...they were minor but still helped. I am around 350k DPS buffed and 400k Toughness with 75k Health and 500 resists.

Started up again last night with my somewhat poorly geared Barb. Ran through most of Act I on Torment 1 (started on Imprisoned Angel, but went back and cleared a few high-density spots) with a buddy playing a Wizard he hasn't played in forever (22k dps, Paragon 2). I got 2 levels, he got 9. I found 1 Legendary (pretty boss 1-hander) and I believe he found 2. Ran into a few affix combinations I wasn't prepared for (Wormhole, Thunderstorm, plus the new Plagued grid going all over the place). Overall, wasn't too bad, but I wasn't expecting much it being Torment 1. First pair of Archon Shoulders I crafted was an upgrade also.

Am I imagining things, or did they dramatically lower the cost for gem combines? I do remember the console versions being much cheaper. I would assume they had to with the removal of the Auction Houses, but I thought I remembered the cost for making Marquise and up being a lot higher.

How do you evaluate between Toughness and Resists? Are the stats tied in together?
Toughness is EHP with armor/resists/health factored. For individual resists, I believe the toughness formula just averages all your resists.

Maybe WotHF - HoL? The extra damage on the second hit averages out to 271% for the whole cycle. But the wording on the rune is weird. Why mention the increase of hits and the increase in damage?

That aside, I'm wondering if MoC - Annihilation is any good. I don't like that looting reduces the amount of time you have sped up, but that + fleet footed + DS - WofFS is a 60% move buff.
I'm enjoying WotHF with fist of fury rune, along with exploding palm with strong spirit rune for farming, or the flesh is weak for boss killing, and retribution aura with the 10% attack speed rune. I also use cyclone kick or lashing kick, depending on the situation. I have been having good success in it on torment 1 and 2 with those skills.

A side note on WofHF; if you use breath of heaven with the infused with light rune, the dot from wofhf-fof will also generate extra spirit.

They massively reduced them, in preparation for RoS where the current top tier gems drop from random trash mobs(so paying 5millions to upgrade up to them made no sense whatsoever).

There aren't really any solidified top builds yet. Almost every class has a ton more options now than they ever have, so mostly everyone is just trying random buttons and blowing shit up.

As people are getting a feel for things, how does old gear compare to new gear?

Had spent about a billion on the AH to gear a WD, and a billion on gearing a Monk. Would I be terrible now? I know builds changed, so that makes a huge difference, I just wasn't sure how a well geared MP10 character before, equals now?
I have a monk with a vastly outdated Inna's set, which is still extremely viable.

It makes you wonder how people played RPGs, back before somebody just linked a "build" on websites...

Figure things out? You have to actively try pretty damn hard to gimp yourself entirely. The only thing that you'll ever really have to absolutely min/max for, is the higher levels of Torment. Spend some time, learn all the new skills/runes and how they interact, grab some drops, and worry about the most efficient builds once you've gotten used to the game(seriously, quite a bit has changed, especially if you haven't played since release). As most people have been saying, a lot of the skills are pretty well balanced now, to where a lot of stuff comes down to preference/playstyle(which is how it should be). Besides, a lot of the new legendary items make "the new hotness" change in an instant.

We use cold blooded for sure, forgot what other ones and im at work cant look (luxury#1795 if you can though). We use frost nova to chain freeze those bastard new keywardens, the first one we had to use teleport also since he chain jails and runs now as well.

I just basically heard that the Barb WW build was ten shades of fucked up (and I was never optimally geared for it anyway), so when I logged in and everything was flashing NEW, I just started dicking around with stuff and trying it out.

You probably need to get with the times, Grandpa. You're either running a build you saw on twitch or you're a worthless, clueless scrub. There is no inbetween where you just have fun experimenting, that's so 90s. (that was meant as a joke)

That said, I started a fresh barb and play expert, it's nice to get useful loot. Always annoyed me that you didnt get any worthwhile drops on MP10 normal because everything was 10 levels behind. Really just passing some time until Paladin comes out.

So I logged on and see a LOT has changed, almost all for the better, thank good. But I do have a couple of questions. Just how accurate, or useful, are the new Toughness, Damage and Healing stats on gear? If they're all green is it safe to say you can switch items and be more gooderer? Do they take into account gems?

Also, what do the little diamond signs next to stats mean? Some are black while others are beige. Anyone?
