Well I don't think cd should be capped, but I also have mixed feelings about pets doing 100+%weapon damage per hit without the cap even though they provide a lot of side advantages in general(such as passive effects, tanking, blocking projectiles and active effects). To me the pets were rebalanced for RoS with the crit dmg cap in mind, that's why they bumped the damage of them fairly high(sentry does 200%weapon dmg, wolf does 150% for example for DH). With crit dmg being uncapped, that more or less double their damage(assuming 40%crit, getting 300%crit dmg bonus would actually more than double the damage) and I don't feel they were doing bad damage before for passive "always on" damage that also had side benefits. I guess mostly my point of view is I felt pets were already good before, even though the cap was stupid.
The zoo DH build must be pretty crazy atm. 3pc marauder and wolf coat is like 8pets and a bunch of them actually have fairly high damage(and cleave on every hit).
