Unlikely on the first point, as the default story (which is their cannon) has the Grey Warden dying against the Archdemon.
Which is fucking stupid. Why make the Warden's sacrifice canon when they went to all the trouble to write the Morrigan/God child subplot?

Especially since I balanced my DAO playthrough around having 2 mages in the party, having Morrigan say FUCK YOU IM GONE if you refuse to help knock her up with an old god made the fight a lot harder.

The old god baby is much more interesting than dying at an archdemon. I like exceptions to rules when it comes to narratives. Morrigan and my hero are fighting and banging all around the world.

It was probably the easiest way to keep things simple. I think their original plan was going to be a focus on Morrigan's side story, but they went on this mage rebellion side tangent in 2 that pulled their writing in another direction. Plus I am sure ME3 more or less taught them to compartmentalize as much as possible.

Mass effect made them gun-shy with the multi game multi arc storytelling. Especially when it comes to writing endings.

This game flows really well from DA 2 from what i remember. Also I get the feel that the protagonist should be female, which is new. KOTOR 2 bullshit not withstanding

I own it and haven't played it, but isn't the point of the Witch Hunt dlc for DAO that you're trying to find out what Morrigan did after the whole ritual sex thing? Or is that dlc basically the same whether you knock her up or not?

I'm definitely going to make a world state where I side with the Mages every time, do all the dark rituals and other evil shit possible, play a ruthless, anti-Chantry, Inquisitor Mage, put hardened Leliana on the sunburst throne and see if I can bring about Neo Tevinter in the next game.

I always go mage cause templars are dicks. They at least could be nice about subjugation of a class because they were born different .

I'm actually thinking about starting over just because I'm so fucking rustled over not importing my tapestry right. Thinking this time I'll try a mage hating mage.

The way I see it, they both suck. The mages are like investment bankers and the templars are like the SEC. Both are inevitably intertwined and corruptable because lyrium is basically cocaine.

The mages only had it good in a few circles. There were many circles where they were effective prisoners and completely subject to any whims by the guards, even to the point of committing wholesale cleansings of Circles for dubious reasons. Gentling in some cases for simply being outspoken against templars, raped, etc. Really don't see any moral equivalence between the two.

Certainly if you see one as investment bankers and the other as the SEC, I think you might want to put your Das Kapital down for a bit.

I didn't like the red lyrium corruption cop-out. Oh, we're evil b/c we were duped and now we're slaves to this shit. I'd rather fight an organization that still had its free will.

Oh, come on, it's not really that far off. The mages wield great power but are constantly tempted to use it for evil, and many succumb to it. The templars are given a steady supply of a magical drug to do their job, which they do badly and fall into corruption. It's not a perfect comparison, but it's definitely in the same category of 'Who Watches the Watchmen' type of problems.

Here's what rustles the fuck out of my jimmies. With one exception, every single rare I've gotten has been significantly lower dps than a white weapon I already had.

So made it to level 8 so far with my 2 hand warrior and its much less frustrating then playing a rogue so far. Dashing in and might blow into a whirlwind, with a AE taunt for guard just smokes most things. Haven't had one fight even remotely close including some level 12 spider bunches. I'm running Sera, Cass, and Solas. I still am debating running 2 mages so I can have dual winter grasps, barriers, and then maybe go Dorian and Solas. Then again those opening few arrow shots from Sera just destroy mages/ranged. Basically the 4th time I've restarted and still enjoying it immensely.

This time I decided to skip most of Highlands and clear Storm Coast to get to 8 then go off on my major questline (at the 15 power mage/temp quest) so I can time it to just hit 10 once I get the keep and jump into specializations. Pissed me off, I didn't go to the Giant/Dragon right away and now its gone in the coast. I thought I remember a good 2 hander from there but its probably shit compared to the 2 hand great axe I crafted, buying a tier 2 recipe at low levels and stacking it with tier 2 parts makes for some awesome damage.

I do wish they had maybe added stat points you could allocate for a tish my customization on your main character at start up and then on level for everyone. Smoke and mirrors and all but it still is nice to have that illusion that you can build your character like a special snow flake!

I opt for a lot of safe rolls in this one due to Berserk on armor (+30% damage dealt, +300% damage taken), no guard on hit, and because I'm 3 levels under the dragon. Frost resist was unnecessary because the bolts were a one hit kill anyway.

I had a quicker kill that Fraps ditched the audio on. This one was cleaner though (took 4 hits, all from takeoff animation). Lost a lot of time playing it safe against breath, but sometimes if you don't he just bolts while you're in melee range and there's nothing you can do about that.

Nice one. I like how you adopted the Dark Souls attack the back foot strategy

Must be the universal weakness of all large creatures. Good rolling. Nice fight.
