Nah, I can see that. I loved ME1 but it was kind of a throwback like DA:O was. I loved the dunebuggy tank. That shit was hilariously fun. It was a major complaint of mine that it was underused in ME and then removed for ME2. The inventory was undeniably messy, but that was also a throwback to "i'm just gonna carry around fucking everything because reasons and I'm pretty sure that this gun here is a 1% upgrade to the other gun but, well, who knows really". A lot of that game was very clunky, and probably not 100% intentionally clunky, but it had a real and subtle sort of nostalgia effect which probably was intentional. These guys were making the game they remembered playing as kids, but IN SPACE.

I think it's fair to say that ME1 and ME3 were different games.

I didn't hate thetypeof game that ME3 was but if you prefer that type of game I do see how ME1 could lose a persons interest.

i'm sure i'll get negged for this, but i missed ME the first go around. then when ME3 came out, i was like, ALLRIGHT ALLRIGHT. I'LL PLAY IT. so i did. i bought ME and i got like, half-way through it and i just... got bored and left. sure, the paragon system is cool, the dialogue wheel is cool, the setting is cool... mostly... i just... it just didn't do anything for me. maybe it's that the armor and weapons all are basically color variants of each other... maybe it's the goofy planet exploration side missions... maybe it's just "knees too sharp." i don't know. i just absolutely could not force myself to play it anymore. /shrug
not at all. ME has an amazing final act which tends to make everyone forget about the shitty gameplay, repetitive box environments, etc that lead up to it.
RPG elements were not very good. ME2 made them even worse. To the point, you have to wonder what the characters even have levels, or skill points. Nevermind weapons, etc.

I loved it. but really, if we could go look back at the old forums, page after page of nothing but bitching about the problems with both games.
ME2 improved some things. such as gameplay, and the bugs. but dumbed down other parts. And the story and art design, both also were really cut back, and totally lost the edge that made the first game so compelling.

Part of the enjoyment of Mass Effect was also "being in the moment" and sharing that experience with everyone as it happened. Being there on release for all of the games is a BIG part of the collective love of it.

fucking loved the mako. But I love sandbox style games and the mako sections were the most sandboxy.

A space sim where you fly around with space combat and can land on various planets and take them over with ground forces would be amazing. It'd be like mount and blade in space + freelancer + x3.

I dunno if that's true, I played the 1st ME after DA:O was already out. DA:O I played alongside everyone and was like "this is what people were excited about?!?". ME I played a few months after and I was like "Oh, I see why people liked this game."

You've said this a couple of times now regarding ME2, do you mind citing from examples of where you think the art design and story were cut back from the original Mass Effect? Genuinely curious.

It's not true foreveryoneof course since people are different, but there is definitely somewhat of a collective conscience with games thatcanbe a big part of things.

Yeah even singleplayer games are a lot more fun when they come out and everyone is playing them together. Another reason why I hate staggered releases! fuck you I want to play AC4.

Proven recently by Bioshock Infinite. Was nice seeing folks on all different systems getting the same out of the game.

By contrast, by the time GTAIV came out on PC most PC players didn't really care anymore. Simultaneous release dates aren't always possible and often cost a lot more money (needing separate teams in some cases), but they will bank you the most cash and fans don't feel left out. Same applies to pretty much all other forms of media as well. Europe pirates our shows and movies when they come out here first, and vice versa.

i know i'm kicking up a dust storm but... i have never gotten this anomosity between pc and console players. why can't we just sit down and love games together?
There is no animosity against console players here. The animosity is towards developers who do not properly account for the difference in control schemes between the two entities. I have every console ever too. But when developers take away a strategic gameplay mechanic because they feel that console players don't want and can't accept or acclimate to some challenge or some intellectually stimulating game, they're basically insulting those console players.

I specifically said in my statement, SPECIFICALLY, that I don't begrudge console players getting improved controls. I begrudge Bioware sacrificing good controls and gameplay on the PC on the altar of their condescending idea that putting the tiniest bit of strategy or tactics in their game makes their game unapproachable to console players. Fuck man they're basically saying if you own a console versus a PC you're too retarded to handle complex games.

I know that's not true. You know that's not true. Console players should be twice as pissed about that type of attitude towards them as I am, frankly.

Bioware doesn't owe you anything. Bioware doesn't owe ANY of us ANYTHING.
Bullshit buddy. We're the ones buying their games and giving them careers. They owe us EVERYTHING actually. Thanks though.

Controls in DA2 are fine. Hodj is just a baddie who needs to get carried but can't in singleplayer games.
What the fuck is this garbage? You've never played any games with me to know shit about how I play them. You've never been in a guild with me. I've never needed carrying. You don't fucking know shit about me. Kindly kiss my ass, taint and balls.

Yep, like I said above: Hate the devs, not the gamepad.

I begrudge them everything. They're subhuman cretins whose data shouldn't share the same memory cell as mine. Fuck consolefags.

Also why is that named swaystation sumthin sumthin. What is swaystation supposed to mean?

All I've been doing is hating the devs I'm not sure why so many people get so defensive over it

I didn't rape your fucking sisters in front of you people, I just said I can't stand Dragon Age 2 because they altered it too far from its original formula and promises.

Crying? I'm generally amused by it when I'm not the one stuck arguing with you ad naseum. And I'm certainly not about to start a back and forth with you now. It was a half-hearted jab and a completely defensible one although I won't be the poster to do it.

Good day, sir.

Apparently not good enough cause you're still crying.
Wait one gosh darn second friend. You are the one talking about how DA2 raped your mom and killed your sister. The only one crying around here is you!

Here is I think a fair review of DA2 for Hodj. Note the only real negative is the way overly reused textures.
