Coordinating some time with four other guys to play a couple times a week. However I have a bit more free time on my hands than they do and I'm enjoying the shit out of this game, so I want to play this more than they can.

Any idea how big of an issue it would be if I start out leveling the group in Dune?
It's not a big deal at all. You'll be able to catch them up if they want and you can still group.

Made it 19 hours, a worm finally got me. Saw a ship crash not too far from my base, in SW Western Vermillus... even ran to it with my soft step boots or whatever instead of the bike. No dice.

Yeah, you can mix and match all vehicle parts.

There was a long writeup on DD that basically said using a MK4 Orni with MK5 or 6 engines and wings and shit would fly way faster, and was the best way to avoid getting ganked.

The only place the game doesn't really let you do the vehicle part mixes is the wheels or wings - they all have to be the same type

I really wish Funcom would host a website that just livestream worms attacking people.

Holy shit, yeah, that was WAY out in the middle of nowhere. I get wrecks within like 200m of the little island my base is on, and even that's dicey with worm aggro.

I'm 57 hours in (on two characters though) and never been eaten by the worm.

I doubt I'll ever be eaten by a worm because I am such a chicken when I go into the desert. :)

Do you stand any chance of dodging it really or does it turn pretty quickly? I'd think that if it just setup in a large straight line it'd be easier to avoid if you didn't freak out or continue in the same trajectory.

Also, how fucked am I here? I went exploring, and missed my waypoint and ran my bike into quicksand (could I have saved it?) as a worm emerged, ate the bike as I ran off, it then emerged again and tried to eat me but I made it to this outcropping, which is too low for surveying... thanks for nothing... and now I've got to make it ... somewhere from here ... without being eaten? lol.

Edit: asked for help and got a rescue party coming, lol.

Ok, fucking awful design that got my friend pissed and rage quit the game.

The final trial can only be done by one person at a time, if someone is doing it when you get there, you have to wait.

The trial is also fairly long if you don't know what to do.

All the other trials are instanced so they have the technology, so why have this as a bottleneck.

I hope he calms down and plays again, although he likes the game, he was starting to be annoyed by all the minor issues with it, I have a feeling that was the last drop for him.

The final Freman trial not being instanced and solo only is very odd. What's odd is after you do that, most of the places you visit are special locations on the world map that are instanced.

Have my chopper :) going to do some missions and should probably start on the main quests. Next step is duraaluminum. I flew over to the place and hightailed it right back and crafted a radsuit. That place is no joke. Glad I’m playing with a buddy.

Proximity that in this game is hilarious. We have our buggy with an mk4 miner and we’re doing the aluminum tour. Buddy drives I mine the aluminum. Another buggy pops in and voice pops up “Aluminum! Get your aluminum here! Hey race ya to the next one!”

haha 😆

Basically ANY game that allows for proximity voice chat is better for it. It always allows for more hilarious interactions.

I had looted a MK5 Rad suit and that radiation still gets to me fast. Apparently I need to go farm some agave to make iodine pills cause not sure how I'll survive otherwise.

Pills do help, but radiation in that zone isn’t equal. There are 3 tiers of radiation in that zone. Using Chernobyl as an example, tier 1 is taking a tour of the area, tier 2 is going inside the reactor building, and tier 3 is taking a selfie next to the “elephants foot” (if you aren’t familiar with that, it is a giant blob of “corium”, a substance only created by reactor meltdowns, probably the most lethally radioactive material known to man)

The whole zone is mostly tier 1. Getting close to the crystals you need to make duraluminum is tier2. Standing in the green shit near the crystals is tier 3. Don’t stand in the green shit unless you want to max out your radiation meter extremely fast. Buggy mining is a bit safer since you can’t get tier 3 radiation while inside and tier 2 can be minimized since the buggy mining laser has a nice range to it. With a buggy you can probably last about 20 minutes in the area, on foot and using an orni maybe 10.

If you do max out radiation, you’ve got maybe a minute to gtfo before you drop dead. If you can exit the radiation zone, your radiation levels will drop (even if you hit the full radiation level) and you can go back in

Deep desert storytime

So our DD has gotten pretty bad lately from a gank/griefer perspective - I am assuming it is because the kids are out of school now

After losing another assault thopter, I decide to say fuck it and make some cheap scout and do tiny rat runs for resources. I pick the shittiest tiny islands with a single titanium node figuring no one would bother going there. I mine ome, then walk to the other one 300 meters away because it is night. I mine that node then figure I’ll wait for node respawn, so I find a tiny crevice cave in the rocks to afk inside while I go take a piss. My thopter was stowed at this point.

No sooner than I finish that I hear thopters flying. Ok, they’re just passing by, I think. Suddenly a thopter crashes 30 feet from where I am and a guy jumps out. 3 thopters in pursuit then starting blasting the fuck out of the place while the shot down pilot is dodging and trying to fight back. So I’m just in my spot not moving at all, seeing missile blasts hit near where I am and the guy occasionally running around. No one has seen me yet, but morning is coming and I know I’ll probably be seen once it gets light out, so I am trying to figure out what to do. I figure my best chance is there was a small base on the other island that had been raided, but still had active shields. I figured I could at least force them to fight me on foot instead of them blasting from the air. But I didn’t know when was best to go. So the pilot who was dodging lands right near where I am and pauses, presumably because he saw me, then takes 3 missiles to the back and dies like 3 feet from me. Luckily the PKers didn’t go to loot him first, but the crashed ship instead. Since I know for certain they will find me when they come to loot his body, I equip that sprint move and make a mad dash across the sand to try to make it to the messed up base. Someone sniped me with a poison dart, but no one pursued so I presume maybe they were confused. I trapped the sole entrance to the base and waited 10 minutes until I figured it was safe, then got the fuck out

All for 100 titanium ore lol

Ah, that must've been it, cause I was definitely standing in the green shit.

DD doesn't sound worth it. I mean, good for stories, but that seems pointless.
