I’m starting to wonder if there is a hidden underdog bonus. Lansgrad had a hand in buggy for like 2200 points if whatever. I hand one in and got like 4300 points.

Our faction (hark) constantly loses lansgrad

In any case, 3 mk3 buggy for a mk6 pulse sword schematic is a good deal lol

Grabbed this finally, the PvP aspect turned me off, but apparently you can avoid it entirely except the one area?

Was looking at private servers, but doesn't seem to be a big benefit, so I didn't bother.

Anyone people playing on the regular in one place? Don't need a regular posse, but people to do shit with from time to time be good. I'll prob rando some low pop server if not.

Decided screw it, got my own server, feels weird without for this kind of game. even if the options are limited.

Only a 6 slot, anyone free to join, just DM me for server/pass. I just have it mainly for the solo chill/building, won't bother me none.

pvp is basically entirely avoidable. literally every shipwreck is a pvp zone, but no one is in them. if you die in those you loose nothing. you drop your junk bag but all yoru items are fine. the pvpers are in teh pvp part of the deep desert.

You can basically build everything (albeit very slowly) without engaging with the pvp. when you do g o into the pvp areas, at least on my server, i've literally never had a person try to fight me for any reason. There's just such a wide area with almost no greifers. Though admitadly i play early in the day usually.

PVP is only shipwrecks and even at the start I never ran into anyone in one.

From what I've read, private servers share the public Deep Desert, so you don't actually get to avoid the shitty PVP area.

the deep desert has a big pve area, but you CAN have peopel try to push your copter into the sand and thumper you. there is griefability, but that exists on the main map. it doens't happen outside of the DD much because the griefers swarm there.

Wife and I built the carrier, crawler, large spice ref etc just completely bored with nothing to do. Rarely any schematics of interest the DD POI chests are constantly empty. Lack of content in DD just hits hard makes ending the game on a negative note. We managed the PVP /griefing but even if it wasn't there doesn't change the fact there really isn't anything to do.

Private server DD can be a crapshoot - really depends what cluster you’re on. They seem to skew more pve in general

All my bros did a "quiet quitting" on Dune. Everyone was having a blast the first month or so and then one-by-one they started to drop. There were legit real world reasons for some people to bail, but for the most part everyone was just looking for an excuse.

I still putter around in Dune for the survival/base building, but I don't see that lasting much longer.

The first 100 hours were fantastic. They just changed the game from PVE focused to whatever the fuck that is.

I think they might've been better off not having the DD at release at all. Release it later with whatever the PVE endgame is going to be.

I really don't think they'd need to do much to make a more appealing PvE end-game loop. The foundation for a continual, lasting persistent world is there. They nailed the first 100-150 hours - now just make even a halfway competent PvE end-game.

My new world friends started the game late so they’re still interested, but they’ve tempered expectations. Goal right now is to accumulate as much as possible, that way when more content comes out we can come out swinging. The game has a really strong core and combat on foot is fun

Plus they like to PvP so that helps

Last night we did a spice operation with 2 carriers 2 crawlers and escort. Some guy put on a harko skin, flew right next to a crawler, and started to blast. I was flying the carrier so I went to pin the attacker, then everyone else dove down and blew him the fuck up after I picked up the crawler and got some altitude

The lack of friendly highlights does make friendly fire a big risk, though. One of the escorts got mistaken for an attacker and almost got fragged lol

Also, the way bases work makes the quitting process happen very quickly. If you're not willing to log into a game you're not actively playing for 20 minutes to keep it running, well, you're basically saying fuck it.

I know personally, it made it much easier to just quit cold turkey. I'm not going to linger just managing resources to a game I'm not actually playing. That's absurd.

if i get to the point i'm going to actively quit dune for later i'd prolly disassemble my non assault copters and buggy stuff those in the b ank, load my assault copter with key resources and park it at harko city...dunno if that works but i kind of presume it gets no decay docked there

If you do quit for extended break, I’d recommend just keeping the hard to get shit like spice melange and plastinium ingots, maybe a bit of duralumin, your buggy cutterray and storage, and some misc stuff. So long as you can get a buggy, it’s easy as shit to farm the Hagga basin materials. Store it in town bank + assault thopter hold and have your scout pocketed and log out in town

Anything lower priority, make a basic fief at the bottom of Hagga Rift and make a storage base. Make it layered and put important storage and console deep inside. No taxes and even if you forget to fill the generators, bases decay even more slowly down there. Assuming they don’t change shit, your base could still be there a month or more after the power fails

Private server just shares the hark/atredies towns and DD from what I understand. Everything else is private though, so no risk of muppets when I just want to build/grind, which is the main point for me. I chose one of smallest pop world servers, so should be quiet for the rest.

The xrealms host allows you to rent an entire world server and make it entirely PvE, but it's around $300ish a month, so fuck no lol.

Fun so far, restarted a couple time, best part of a game like this, when I have no idea what going on.

Stuff you'll need to enter pvp zones for:

Swordmaster starter quest
Mentalist and Benny final training bits
Final bits of the overall story (might be instanced though?)
T4+ power packs

though not a soul is in those swordman/mentalist/swordmaster quest wrecks. the final story area too (but i think it's instanced).

I'm pretty sure T4 power packs are the ones you can make pre DD, and they drop like candy from boxees in the basin dungeons. i have a large box completely full of scavenged (half damaged) shields, power packs and full suspensors. i get so many i've literally never built one. i just throw on a new half dead one twhen the old one dies and carry a spare.

I imagine some servers may have busy pvp wrecks in quest areas, but i literally never saw another person and did my quests in a lazy sloven manner. the only preperation i did was to leave my coins in my base box incase i died to pvp johnny and he stole my coins.
