The scene in the audiobook where she catches someone wearing the donut holes shirt was fucking hilarious. The way they did her voice, so upset, while everyone else is just laughing about it, had me crying.

Lots of things. It’s just one of Donuts sayings every so often. Something ridiculous happens and “Mongo is appalled!”
Ok, I guess it's kinda like goddammit donut. I didn't realize he was saying it a lot until they said it was his catch phrase. Now I'll see mongo is appaled all over the place.

This series has a manga now. Why? Fuck if I know, not going to read it until after the books are done.

I hope that doesn’t distract from his writing and slow it down….

Well we know this is fucking fanfic. Carl's feet have never known the feel of being shod.
Originally he was wearing a pair of bea's crocks. They should have been much smaller. I think his toes got jammed in them or something.

I'm not sure why he has a motorcycle when he gets rid of them. The comic is supposed to follow the story as written.

Based on the details in that image it's because the artist really enjoyed drawing motorcycles

I think in that particular scene in the book there was a description of a moped or a bike that was booted by parking enforcement.

Book 5 is already my favorite since book 1 and I've barely started it. I'm going to get caught up by Wednesday at this rate.

The English lit major in me wants to hate these books, but they're too damn good. Late to the party but have plowed through to book 4 in almost no time, 3 with the trains was absolutely wild.

Curious what gripes you have about it through the English lit major lens.

One thing I've noticed is that he slips back and forth between an internal dialogue in the moment narration and narrating to an audience. Of course the english lit major in him will probably also be triggered that I don't know the right words for those narration styles.

I'm not sure he had an editor either. The first few books were just posts on a website and I think I read that he decided to not use an editor when he turned them into books. I'm not noticing grammatical errors, but I'm listening to the audiobook so I probably wouldn't notice them.

I do vaguely remember that now. And I also see the boot on the motorcycle now too.

That's Butcher's Maaquerade. I'm on the next one, the bedlam bride. My favorite one has pretty consistently been whatever is coming next.

For better or worse, this is pretty common for this entire genre. I use audible for all these books but just about every litrpg I'm reading is released like Count of Monte Cristo on Royal Road or Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/dinniman

I'm kind of glad it's like this because if an author's income is determined by disciplined releases vs publishing a few books and then making it big, there's presumably less risk of authors stagnating at the peak of a story. The other possible benefit is that attentive authors can use ideas and feedback from readers. Even well-edited writing has plot holes that can be patched by revealing new information in future chapters.

Matt Dinniman has made over $30k/mo on Patreon alone for years so there's no financial pressure unless he's developed a taste for the rich lifestyle, but lower-earning authors like https://www.patreon.com/necariin ($5k/mo) can earn a decent living
