I reeeeallly need Dinniman to not let fame get to him and just finish the fucking series. If he can even moderately stick the landing then it will go down as one of the best sci-fi/fantasy series of all times.

He said he is done at 10 books. 8 is already pretty much in the can.

As someone who read the books all in a row last year the quality declines the last few and to me it seemed he was letting it get to him already. It’s shocking how much the book became Carl watching girl bosses get things done compared to where it started.

He’s noooooowhere near as bad as Sanderson has gotten with therapy chronicles, so I’m not hating… yet.

Book 8 has a release date of 5/12. Also, you fudge packers are high. Book 5 is the best in the series so far.

Holy fuckballs. Apparently the audiobook version has outsold the physical books for this series. I don't get that. I love letting my imagination fill in all the details like that when I read. That said I don't listen to talk radio or podcasts either, so that's probably a me thing.

Yeah while the later books feel different from the earlier books, I don’t really think their quality is lower. And as moon said, book 5 (floor 6) is phenomenal. I considered book 7 very good too, floor 9 was nuts.

Part of me wishes he’d do another 7-9 books that would see us all the way to floor 18, but given the way the lore works I understand why he has no interest in trying to do that. If books 8, 9, 10 give us floor 10, 11, 12 respectively, I think I will be happy. Floor 12 is something I want to see, the Ascension sounds hilariously chaotic and insane.

I bought the first 2 audiobooks for a sort of reread. It didn't get close to just reading them.

I never once thought “oh he’s just having her do it for girl boss scene” because everyone in the book is basically a god compared to a regular person with all the items and abilities and stat boosters they have, men and women (and cats and alligators).

Totally disagree about the quality declining. I could understand not liking a particular setting or something, like I didn’t care for the trains. Also didn’t really like the card battles as much. The quality stayed good the whole series so far. Hopefully he keeps that up and sticks the landing.
