The ebook I have has that map in it. I'm actually fine with the levels not making sense. I'm still trying to decide why
Carl put on that 'death ring' that the ex cop gave him. That seems so very out of character for him
.

Also what is the protocol here for potential spoilers in the older books?
I don’t think we have an official one since the books are all 1+ years old. We’ve been keeping it spoiler free though since new people keep popping in.

He put it on cause it’s really powerful and they’re going for every advantage they can. He’s not deciding to be a murder hobo or anything, he just knows that there will be times when he can use it and gain a lot of stats.

Best to put every spoiler beyond like, the premise of carl crawling in dungeons into a spoiler. DCC is increasingly mainstream so there are a lot of newer readers.

I hope it doesn’t derail him too much by spending too much time on the show and not enough writing.
He is already working on book 9 and only one more book after that. The show won't even start really rolling for at least a year probably..I doubt we see this til late 2028 or early 2029. If we are lucky.

We should start a TV thread, might attract a few more new readers.

Big Audible sale right now, I got books 5 and 6 for less than $10 total.

I read somewhere (could have been here) to 'not try and figure out the Iron Tangle' and I think that made 3 more enjoyable. I agree with one of the other recent posts - some really nice moments in that one.

I've started 4 though and find myself bouncing from it a bit, just have it on and not really anything going on to focus on or hold my attention. Been loving this series though, taking a break and will get back into it.

Got a recent woot shirt:

Not as directly related:

And not related at all, think a friend said it was an anime reference, but I'm the one usually openning mimics in damn near every game:

Yeah I will finish book 3 but it's a struggle even with not trying to figure out 'the tangle'.

NBCs streaming service. I would think this would be more a fit for HBO with all the crude humor. I’m not sure anyone will ever see it on Peacock, who even has that? Probably be a one season and done.

Book 3 is meant to be a little hectic. Don't overthink it, just let the action and chaos happen. There's a lot of important world building and character development that happens. Some really good moments too.

ending of book 3 really defines who Carl is and his ultimate goal and how he's different from any other crawler

side note, my gf and i traded books. she's the typical, reads lots of murder mysteries by female authors. she suggested a recent fav or hers and I obviously gave her DCC, both Audible so not really gave but suggested next purchase. She suggested The Butcher. Holy crap, this must be way woman are wound so tight. this book had no chill and only 2 jokes through the whole book. in the end, the girl got the got guy she always wanted and there was no heroic moment, no ass kicking, just constant dark anxiety. She's about to start book 3 of DCC, i'm back to Primal Hunter :)

Yeah I've never heard an audio book like this. It comes off more like a radio play than a guy reading a book. I'm super impressed if he's doing all the female voices. Seems impossible. I know there are VIP guest voices. Critical drinker is unmistakable.
Kind of a shame that the author is such a faggot because this series was on my shortlist of new things to try.

Dinniman has always been a big shitlib, it rears its head when he tries to mention shit like online bullying in DCC. In his previous series one of the MC was a 41%er.

There's been a very noticeable quality drop in the books since the popularity started to rise, in sure you guys have noticed it. He's probably trying to walk the line between THAT crowd on Reddit and what made his books actually popular.

I’d disagree. I think they’ve only got better with the low point being the Tangle, which was still good imo, but not every book can be the best either. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think your entertainment in the books can go along with the theme. The books are done pretty well considering the changes in tone between them. If you don't care for or know much about card games than you probably didn't like Bedlam Bride. If you wanted more of the dungeon crawl stuff you probably didn't like the Inevitable Ruin because it was a war story.

edit: Bonus pic.
