Sony PSVR isn't shitty. I haven't played the Vive.
Not playing the Vive is why you don't think the Sony unit is shitty.I returned the Sony one the day after I got it. That said, the fact that it's sold over a million units is good for VR, in general. VR still has some big hurdles, but right now the Vive is the best of the bunch and has some very cool experiences; especially if you have a large, open room to play in.

Once the headsets go wireless and do 4k per eye at 90+ hz refresh rate, VR will really come into its own.

Is it really that much better than PSVR?

What's different? (I don't doubt you but trust your opinion and want to hear from you what makes it better before I go off half cocked and buy one lol)

The room scale experiences and tracking are significantly better on the Vive. The lighthouse tech blows away the Sony camera. That alone makes the smoothness of the tracking, and the immersion it provides, magnitudes better than the Sony tech. The Vive is also double the cost and requires a high end PC to run well. It should be better. You also need a large playspace to get the most out of the Vive.

first, remember its ut telling you that VR is the greatest thing in the world so take his recommendations with a grain of salt.

second, while VR can be fun on and off there still isn't really a killer game that will KEEP you playing. 90% of you guys who buy VR will play a few hours and then the system will sit untouched for weeks. PSVR has all kinds of issues, especially if you have a 4k TV, since the PSVR breakout box (required to split the signal between the PS4 and headset) does NOT pass HDR signals, you have to do all kinds of shit with splitters and stuff to get HDR to pass through. Its a right pain in the ass and the quality differences between Vive/Oculus and PSVR is massive. Like going from console to PC gaming.

I've owned an oculus for a long time and I think I've used it a total of 4 hours in 2017, and probably 90 minutes of that was to check out VR porn (which isn't that awesome either, unless you like giant dicks and pussies). Two hours of the Star Trek bridge VR game, which is the only good VR game I've seen this year but zero interest in playing past that. There just isn't a great VR game.

VR headsets also get insanely uncomfortable after 30-45 minutes. You are sweating like you just had sex in the jungle and your whole head is uncomfortable. I'd rather just play in front of a TV sipping a cool drink.

Reminds me of that one nintendo wii with the fucking paddles and bowling games. Fun for 5 min but then it sits there collecting dust.

Its all about the content, no good VR content, VR will fail.

VR would penetrate the masses if it had some POV porn with a connected fleshlight. Sell it as a kit.

Im still triggered from the Xbox and Bethesda's E3.

Now let's hope they announce a PS4 Elite controller and/or a PS4 pro price drop.

UT I'd like you to stream a drunken night in nothing but VR. IF you could handle it we would all love to see it.

Yeah the teleporting mechanic is for not getting motion sickness. But hopefully they will still have normal movement but
Doom VFR seems to be built around that. Shit doesnt bother me, love it. They did say earlier that FO4 will support both. But yeah the underconstruction signs and rumor of it being a new ip got me a tad excited. But Wolfenstien looked good.

Yeah because I am out there being positive about a lot in gaming these days!

I did full movement with RE7. Never got sick. You just need to use your head for movement position changes instead of the right analog stick. It's easy to train yourself on it.

With that said, I still am a huge champion of VR and can only see better things coming down the road. If anything, it will launch us into other tech that will be insanely better - namely shit like the holodeck or something. Obviously a LONG ways off, but it has to start somewhere, and I still think it was worth every penny so far.

To compare something like this to a gimmick 3D application is not even close to reality. VR will continue to improve, processes will improve, and with PSVR selling 1 million units with the price point it is at, in the time it has been out, it has generated over 400 million in revenue.

No way in hell that isn't expanded upon from a business perspective. Thing hasn't even been out a year yet, and has generated almost half a billion in revenue just on the PS4 alone just from the hardware itself.
