VR isn't a fad, the technology just isn't yet at a point where it will have mainstream appeal.

PSVR has sold through a million units.
That's like 100k sales a month worldwide for the cheapest option out of the VRs. Practically nothing.

I wish they were cheaper and selling better because I would like to own one, but $800 for a Vive and $500-800 for an Oculus means almost nobody is biting that bullet and I don't want to invest in tech that doesn't look like it's going to take off.

I still say fad, despite how many units sold. They're pushing vr down our throats just like they pushed 3D

Ah, no way. I love my VR. It's completely 100% immersive and the next evolutionary step to AR. Come on over and play Resident Evil 7 on PSVR and then you tell me it's a fad. Right after I am busy cleaning up your shit on my couch and washing your clothes so you can get back in your car to go home 20 minutes into the game. Scarred for life.

Yah, but playing Doom by teleporting mechanic to different locations? Eish, not good.

I'm not saying that VR won't work in certain catagories. It absolutely will. It just won't work in others, unless they figure out a way to strafe by implementing a joycon controller on one or both of their hand controls.

It will take off. There is no doubt in my mind. After playing RE7 in VR, I cannot play another horror game without it. Everything I play is fantastic in VR. 3D was always a gimmick, even when I used to watch 3D shows with those red and blue glasses - the tech was 30 years old with hardly any improvements. VR, you are IN the game.

It doesn't help that 5 million of those ridiculous Samsung VR things sold. I had people come over thinking VR wasn't a big deal after playing on one of those samsung pieces of garbage, and after they took it off they were astounded with how awesome it was.

goishen goishen I agree. Not everything has to be forced into VR, but I would play through Fallout 4 again in VR depending on control scheme. I have always not liked this iteration of Doom. With that said, I am looking forward to immersive VR open world experiences with full AAA games. RE7, while a little on the short side, showed what can be done. I didn't get sick either. Soma in VR would be absolutely incredible.

VR is here to stay.

The reason VR isn't taking off is they can't plug directly into the brain for porn yet.

I'm ready for a holodeck. I'll make whatever that one ensign was doing in that TNG episode seem normal.

This is the next big hudle that VR is gonna have to overcome, it's control scheme and then standardizing those control schemes. Not only among themselves (and let's face it, the Occulous is really running out of steam at this point), but among developers.

I don't agree with you that VR is here to stay, but if it is, it's taking its slow ass time getting back up off the ground after getting throat punched by a lack of sales.

I agree with Ut. VR is legit. Farpoint (with aim controller), RE7, and (with some assumptions)the upcoming FO4 vr, are big deals. I'm still waiting anxiously for a skyrim type open world vr rpg. Definitely the future of gaming once the tech catches up a bit more.

Sony PSVR isn't shitty. I haven't played the Vive. Sony PSVR is easy to set up and provides a fantastic experience. With that said, if you have the money for the Vive and full room VR, there are a LOT Of games on Steam for it.

PSVR games that are a must: Batman VR, Rush of Blood, RE7, Far Point with the Aim Controller, Tethered, Expect to Die to name just a few off the top of my head.

You can get the PSVR launch bundle again anywhere in stock for $499 and comes with everything you need. I am running mine on vanilla PS4 as well.

I literally feel like I am being swallowed by electronics and show up INSIDE the world. And I'll tell you, I was as skeptical as anyone. I only bought it because I was hammered and won 1600 in pull tabs that night haha! :) I am so glad I did.

I agree with you that VR is some of the baddest shit to hit the planet. It's just that you now need standardiztion of controls.

Think back to the first FPS's. They weren't introduced with a schematic of what controls allow what. It was games that did that for us. With games being rarely developed for the VR, I think that it'll fall on its face before it gets to that point without some kind of hardware support and a set point of controls.

Maybe that's what they're all fighting over, and Sony'll win just by ease of use and early adoption. But at least it'll be something.
