Checked out the twitch preview and yeah, hard is not what I'd call the run I saw, they completely steamrolled everything including the boss, I think the only death was one guy getting point blank melted by the repeating crossbow assassin fucks from 100 to 0, and everything was dying in seconds. That said, it was a premade of people experienced with the game, and using potentially a strong comp(archer sorceress and the big barb guy, basically one tank and 2 ranged DPS just blasting), I assume when you do pubs with Lil' Timmy and xXx420BlazexXx it might be more challenging.

Interested to see someone play it solo.

That said while the idea is pretty interesting and the execution looks solid(movement looks really well done considering it wasn't designed for this shit at all originally, there seems to be a good amount of variety in gear and a good amount of variation per run), it also looks like something I'd play for a few hours and get bored with. Might pick it up during a sale.

Nightreign is tomorrow. Anybody else playing it on PS5? I'm probably going to plow it all weekend.

Reading that the Executioner class is basically the Sekiro playstyle, so I'll probably go with that one. Each class is a different playstyle from throughout the Fromsoft catalog, from the sound of things. They also draw bosses from across the Fromsoft spectrum (just not enough of them, only a couple from each game).

This seems like it's basically Demon Souls (in structure) with 8 worlds instead of 5 and a timed multiplayer focus. You choose the order you do the worlds and each one has two major levels and a third short boss level.

Hoping that Godwyn is the game's Big Bad and we finally tie up that loose end. The theme of the game fits pretty well with Godwyn IMO.

In other news, great video here, these guys are probably the most "comfort food" channel on youtube for wrestling fans and here they are covering Shadow of the Erdtree.

Yeah even with the DLC she is by far the hardest boss, even if you summon pals. She requires specific approaches, good reads, and fast timing to take down.

If you are a tanky guy and want to solo her (or at least just use ash and no player help), the fingerprint shield is a must. For a weapon in this scenario, any reasonably fast spear with Blood Tax on it will fuck her over pretty good. Look for openings to counterpoke her too. If you got the Pig Rider guy's spear from the DLC, that is the optimim weapon because it both provides massive bleed scaling and the moveset is the easiest for counterpoking her out of some attack sequences and its jump attack will even sometimes knock her out of Waterfowl during startup. Toss in the mimic with the heal flesh on your hotbar and the fight goes from unforgiving to relatively manageable, since you can back off to heal if you need to.

You can do the dex route and learn to parry on top of that, but that requires perfect reads and reflexes. I was never able to solo her like this, but I can recommend getting some throwing knives to cancel her waterfowl windup. Do NOT call in an ash if you go this route, because all you are doing is feeding her healing.

Being a caster against her is basically nearly impossible solo with or without an ash summon. But if you just want the kill and are doing coop, being a caster is a great way to do some damage and not fuck it up for the other player by making her agro hop more. Night Commet, the homing back fireball INT/FTH spell, and the big bow spells are all solid choices if you can maintain distance. If you have enough arcane, cloud of flies spam is great for stun locking her and building up bleed for your allies to capitalize on. Also note that the bulk of her room has watery areas so any lightning spell or incant without direct targetting (so she just dodges) is going to perform decently too. Gransax Spear is actually one of the best weapons to use on her in coop due to the weapon art and being able to use the shield counterpoke strat.

I have relatives over for a week so I probably will not get to play much if at all. But I have a premade group of local friends we intend to hit it hard with on PS5. I enjoyed the coop play in ME2 and Dragon Age and hope it has the same feel to it. Nice bite sized monster murder runs seem like a great way to chill after work.

I actually beat her solo as a caster on one run. Adulas Moonblade destroys her, especially if you hit her in melee range with it. It's still a hard fight but it pulls her out of animations

I cannot believe this thing doesn't have cross play.

I have a choice between PS5 Pro and PC - but leaning towards PC a LOT because I just upgraded and also no native voice chat which means it's easier to just hop in Discord.

Anyone besides Rajaah buying this? :p

I preordered it, but then I already have a group set to play with.

I dont really maintain a gaming PC anymore, but even if I did console is where I would be due to it filtering out the cheaters and being able to be a couch potato and enjoy speed runs is nice.

Apparently Nightreign is only 15-20 hours to the credits and after that the cool part of the game (map changing event) becomes pretty rare. Most points of interest are completely static with the same mobs, etc. I should have skipped early review vids, killed any interest.
