DON fixes a lot of that. You get 6 relic slots, and people are much less likely to quit since you lose rating points.

There are some really good relics that make a world of difference. If you can find one that changes your starting weapon skill to hoarfrost stomp, you'll steamroll day 1 which makes the whole run much smoother.

Enemies also scale down when someone leaves so it's still easily doable with 2, or even 1 if you're not depending on being carried

What's DON? I have 3 relic slots in two sets.

Yeah I found that it does get a lot easier with 2. Had someone linkdead and not return midway through, and I stuck around since the other guy did, and lo, the bosses had significantly less HP and we won.

I've seen people with Hoarfrost just completely flattening bosses. I managed to get a relic that makes my starting weapon inflict frost, and that's probably helping a lot.

Got 5 bosses down, 3 to go. Not gonna mess with the purple hardmode versions. The two giant bugs boss is freaking awful and has handed me two losses, other than that it's been fairly smooth sailing lately. Probably 50% or slightly under that of runs are successful, where a year ago it was more like "almost none". People have learned the maps and where to go. I just stick close and make things dead. I'll probably have the game downed by the weekend.

I couldn't get into it myself. Relying on two other randos makes it miserable.

It's very hit or miss yeah. At this point all the casuals are gone though and it's mostly people who seem like they've actually played the game before.

DON = Deep of Night. There's 5 levels of it that get progressively harder. You go up levels at certain rating points, where you gain points for winning and lose points for losing. You also get 3 more relic slots along with relics that are more powerful, but come with drawbacks. Ideally you get a drawback that doesn't affect you much and it's just pure gain. The hardest part of it is getting from DON level 2->3 since you don't lose points until level 2, all the shitty people who need to be carried make it past 1 since it just requires 5 wins out of an unlimited amount of games.

It's good to have different builds for different bosses, and going all out fire can melt Gnoster fast as long as you don't get too greedy. You also definitely want to kill Balancer and then purple Balancers, since their relics make weapon skills amazing and stack with each other. Get those, and something with + fire, then the gold tier whip that creates lava on the ground and pillars of fire and Gnoster can be downed in under a minute

Nightreign is a poopsocker's game. Don't get me wrong, it is fine for what it is, but its basically a coop looper game with an Eldern Ring skinsuit for the next level autists. As an old man who likes the relaxing methodical fighting of most Souls games, its not my jam. Plus I am a console peasant these days and getting PUGs worth a shit was impossible on PS5.

Did replay the trilogy of Dark Souls over the spring, and Demons Souls. Still really dig those games, but once I got back on ER its hard to go back to the more linear style with no jumping. DS2 holds up the best for me, mainly because DS3 has some dumb gate keepers that favor certain builds (or excessive overleveling) and the prevalence of AE spam bosses in some of those spots. DS2 has the worst zone in the entire franchise (the whiteout before two giant invisible tiger fight), but DS3 has numerous areas of crap not worth remotely engaging and its where the relentless attack spamming shit combined with the AI reading controller inputs really got started.

I bought Nightreign on sale a while back and have never played it. Got distracted by arc raiders. Is it worth it duo? I’m sure it will feel like a letdown no matter what after the gem of game that arc ended up being for me.

So ... 1600+ deaths to Radahn. Trying to figure out if this is some AI thing? Or fake gameplay with some girl reading comments? She allegedly is playing the game.

It's worth it with a team yeah. Dunno about duo, but a trio all in communication with each other can have a ball with it. Otherwise you're just hoping to get decent randoms every time out. As a duo, I think it'll always give you a third random and that makes the bosses stronger. Dunno if there's a way to make it duo-only.

I beat the game in around 20 hours, it's the most frustrating at the beginning when you're locked into the first level until you beat the Gladius boss. That was kind of dumb and probably blocked out a lot of players. After that, it unlocks and you can do all the levels and the game gets a lot better.

Do yourself a favor and and don't bother with the DLC, waste of $15. Adds one new level, then another one after that one is beaten. I couldn't even get the first one down, was Gladius all over again with an OP boss blocking out what was beyond that. Except way way worse than Gladius. All of that said, the reason the DLC sucks is because the underworld areas that it uses most of the time are just total ass, and most players don't know how to deal with it, so you're just falling into pits and shit. Pits should NOT be in a game with this stupid fire wall rushing you along, especially not pits that take up half the damn level.

Really wish they'd fix the fire wall. Either make it a little slower-moving, or less-damaging. So it'll still usher you along but won't constantly be interrupting you and ruining your day while you're in a cave or something and can't just leave.

I kinda hate Nightreign actually
