After much consideration, I have decided to convert the project that was EQ: Battle Royale into EQ: Classless.
Why? Because a full item loot, classless pvp server wasn't as popular and launched at an inopportune time, and the players who went to try the server were PVE players primarily. I believe the fast-paced, classless niche outweighs any benefits a PVP server would bring.

As such, I have turned the server into a PVE Classless server with RNG-based spell/gear drops.
The server is currently in Kunark and will stop at PoP.

Here are the revised rules:

- No boxing, strict 1 IP limit - the world is yours and yours alone to travel through.
- "Easier" Raid Zones -We've tweaked a lot of the raid bosses to be easier, but with competition via PvP in mind. Future content will include later expansion content tuned to this system. Raid content is tuned for 6-12 players, though raid content will be the least of your issues.
- Classless system - All players are able to use and scribe any spell scroll, dual wield any item, and track down their enemies. Double attack is available from level 1, and disciplines are available at 45+. Use any classes' spells in any capacity that you feel comfortable with. Create your favorite hybrid.
- All items are no longer nodrop - Hand-me-downs were one of the best things about EverQuest, and having all items trade-able expands on this feature.
- Do anyone's epic quest - Ever want to dual wield a Ranger/Warrior epic? Now you can!
- Increased Regeneration - Outside of combat, your HP/Mana regen is increased significantly. This speeds up the pace of gameplay.
- Increased EXP - With a super-fast 8 times experience rate, it's easy to catch up to your friends who have been playing for a while.
- Accurate EverQuest - With the support of the TAKProject database and client, the game looks, feels, and is authentically EverQuest. Working combat formulas shape an otherwise non-classic experience.
- A hub zone - The Ethernere. This zone is considered a Haven zone, to let you get your bearings before you go out into the world and start killing monsters. There is a translocator in the town that will teleport you to a few locations, however, if you ask her nicely. Your starting ring will take you back to the Ethernere as a click effect.
- RNG-based loot system - NPCs throughout the world will have a chance to drop exceedingly rare items during your travels, ranging from armor, to spell scrolls, to weapons, and more. If you're lucky, exceedingly rare treasures can drop depending on NPC level.

If you have a legacy TAKP account, log into the TAKP version of the game and transfer your characters using the instructions in the MOTD to use #setlsinfo.

Run eqgame.exe with the launcher (or eqgame with the patchme parameter as listed in the EQEmulator play guide). Configure the game client as desired. For troubleshooting, please post in the technical support section of our discord, located at Discord - Free voice and text chat for gamers

Log into the EverQuest Classless server, and create your character. Only race matters, your starting stats do not and neither does your class or starting location.

The server administration has a few rules - do not cheat, you will be banned. No second chances.

Training other players is not allowed in all areas. I expect players to resolve raid disputes by PVP, but that PVP does not mean playing dirty. Anyone found to be doing this on video will be punished. Dirty includes:

-Training NPCs on other players (with clear intent to do so) that they are not already engaged with. This includes PVP and PVE.

-Engaging NPCs outside of a PVP area (that you have not already engaged) that are engaged with other groups, guilds, raids, or otherwise an entity that you do not affiliate with, where the group cannot reasonably retaliate via PVP combat.

An account ban from our services does not affect your ability to play on EQEmulator, only EverQuest: Classless.

Hi folks,

I'd like to announce that Chainbreaker, a new server by the Classless developers, is set to launch on April 1st, 2023.

Chainbreaker is a server we theorycrafted after running EQ Classless. We had various iterations between now and then, and the one we currently have is the one we're going to settle on. We've been working on this project off and on with hiatuses over the last few years, and we've finally got the core gameplay in a state which we find acceptable to launch.

The core features of the server revolve around multiclassing, but with a twist: you 'reincarnate' from specific level thresholds to get additional classes to use. Additionally, you can multi-race, and there are new major racials that each class can have.

This solves a major issue from EQ Classless where you simply ran out of content at a specific level, or ended up having the content become trivial.

I will warn you: there will likely be bugs and unpolished, rough-around-the-edges content. What we're doing with this server is unprecedented, and we've had to trick the game client into doing a LOT of what we want it to do. We also are employed people with jobs. This is our hobby, so keep that in mind.

CORE TENANTS
- A custom stat based system that allows you to increase your effective power by spending alternate advancement points.

- Reincarnate your character to get additional class and races on the same character.

- Inventory is shared throughout your account.

- Create up to three characters per account. Your three characters level together at the same rate.

- Personal loot. Every player ingame gets their own pool of items to loot from.

- Raiding has been condensed into 6-man content. We will be balancing every challenging encounter around 6 players. We will also be adding the custom fight mechanics that were present in Classless 2.0 - though with brand-new twists.

- Notable, challenging targets are subject to loot lockouts.

- Every equippable item in the game is flagged attunable, and in addition to being attunable, they will also auto-attune on trading, picking up a dropped item, or selling an item in the bazaar.

- All spells, skills, abilities, combat arts, and disciplines have been merged into the spellbook. This includes Kick.

- All damaging spells and skills have been converted to endurance-based spells. Depending on how much endurance you have, your attacks may deal more damage. Endurance will regenerate to 50%. The only way to increase your endurance further is by using regeneration spells. All former mana regens are now endurance regens.

- Heals are still mana-based, and mana no longer regenerates in combat - even through buffs. Your ability to succeed depends on your healers not being OOM.

- We created an entirely new mercenary system that lets you use your alternate characters as mercenaries, and you can swap to them without having to log out, as long as you are outside combat. Mercenaries contain their own AI and will use spells at their leisure, and can join your group.

- Lore and nodrop have been stripped from all items! However, all items are also now lore equip, in that you cannot equip two of the same item.

- Utility spells exist, such as the ability to summon your entire party to your location, provided you are not in combat, and the ability to return to the area where you last died.
- The bazaar has changed in functionality - you no longer have to visit the player you wish to buy items from, and you can simply just click buy to buy items from players on the /bazaar window, provided you are in the hub zone.

- Content will scale upwards in difficulty by increasing mob levels. Our systems allow us to do so without having to modify the content directly. Velious will increase by 10 levels, Luclin will increase by 20, and Planes of Power will be increased by 30.

- There is no effective level cap. However, it will take higher level requirements to reincarnate on each subsequent reincarnation.

- Planes of Power Era content available, with custom content added in the future.

- No multiboxing. 1 IP limit per player.

- No MacroQuest or other third party cheat tools allowed.

Some good and novel ideas here. I'll check it out for sure. Love the idea of a classless system and the fact that all players get track.

Only issue I see is that in traditional EQ track was broken when you tried to use it to track players that weren't in your group- has this issue been fixed?

Sounds cool, eq PvP has always sucked (to me) but this has potential. Good luck with it, look forward to checking it out.

The fact any player can mem any spell greatly fixes the EQ PvP issues. Some classes just plain sucked and were useless. Others, ultra OP.

It's an older client, so we're limited in what we can fix while also reliably prevent people from cheating.

Everyone is on the same playing field, so its crappiness is kind of everyone's problem.

Yeah, I agree. It works pretty well, especially with spells being removed from merchants and them dropping / researched being the only way to get them now. They get removed from your spell book on dying as well, not just unmemmed. They're more like reagents, which is awesome.

That sounds like a great idea except for the whole research part. why not make them all from drops instead of bothering with the tedium of research?

They're from drops AND research. Sorry if that wasn't clear. NPCs can drop the spells themselves, with research being an alternate path to make them.

There is a global 15% chance to get one of the following items, with a 5% chance to get an additional item from the same mob. Any NPC that drops loot will provide these items.

-Cloth Set Piece (ie; Cloth Cap)
-Leather Set Piece (ie; leather wristguards)
-Chainmail Set Piece (ie; chainmail tunic)
-Platemail Set Piece (ie; plate breastplate)
-Rusty weapons
-Bronze weapons
-'no prefix' weapons (ie; Short Sword)
-Fine Steel weapons
-Any spell in EQ's lineup from any class up until level 19.

There are plans to add or adjust these items in future revisions (i'd like to put enchanted jewelcrafting resist gear on the list, personally) but currently everything listed above is in.

Are you tweaking racial bonuses? Because as it would stand, you would be foolish to create anything other than an Ogre (frontal stun immunity).

Yeah the "no classes" thing definitely changes the dynamic for races.

Racial bonuses and penalties have been removed as of today. This includes the following:
* Ogre Frontal Stun Immunity
* Iksar AC bonus
* Troll / Iksar Regeneration
* All Exp Bonuses and Penalties.
* Starting stats have been normalized to 75.
* The only exception is of racial skills such as Bash, Forage, Hide, and Sneak.

Race/Class Combinations that can normally be Rangers will obtain Kick at level 10.

I'm going to open up the server for some testing tonight thru Thursday. Everything will be wiped on Thursday evening in preparation for the weekend test and locked again Thursday night until Friday. I simply need people hammering the server before then so the testing period goes smoothly and we can focus on core mechanics during the weekend test instead of crash-fix-hunting.

Losing all your spells on death means you just reroll every time you die because level 1 Mages typically are not killing much without their newbie spells. But when you decide to reroll just punch a guard in some corner of Qeynos and come loot all your old gear on the fresh character.

Make sure you make a large race so you can use slam since you start without combat skills. I'd say choose Troll for increased regen.

Bard songs have to be recast constantly atm.

Exp loss appears to start at level 2, I was losing a whopping 25-30% exp with each death.
