Don't know if there are any lore geeks here, but one prediction I've been seeing lately is that the EQN world is going to spawn as a result of a fight with Kerafyrm in EQ2. I guess he is going to be the last fight in the Ages End story arc that has been going on for the last two years. Not saying I buy it, but I would be impressed with their timing if it's true.
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure EQ next won't have much to do with the original two.

Blizzard taking their lore from other sources instead of making it up isnt news, Itzena. It's a good method too, because look what happened to the warcraft lore once Metzen started to actually make shit up himself instead of taking it from Warhammer and so on. Also, Kerafyrm blowing up the world up is lots better then "lol the moon exploded, we didnt like that content anyway".
That said, I dont care for them bending over to connect EQ1/2/Next with some lame sliders background. Just say its a reboot and roll with it.

Kerafyrm is like the size of the earth. Anytime I picture a "final" confrontation with her, I just seems like it cannot be done.

So... do we know ANYTHING about EQ Next yet, or is this thread purely speculation? I don't want to read through all 373 pages just to find out an answer to that. I know that it's said to be the largest sandbox MMO to date. That it's closer to EQ1 then EQ2 (I read that somewhere), and that the few people invited to see it during E3 said it stole the show as best game or something. Is any other info out, or are those vague statements all that has been released thus far?

But what MMO hasn't promised innovation and great strides forward? Remember Rift? They were talking about their "DYNAMIC CONTENT DELIVERY MECHANISM!" that was going to change the way we thought of MMO's and all it turned out to be were random spawn ring events that you farmed for epix. Vanguard was going to "APPEAL TO THE CORE GAMER WITH INNOVATIVE AND GROUND BREAKING NEW GAME DESIGN!" and all they did was find the only way possible to make a worse EQ sequel then EQ2 was. SWTOR was supposed to "USHER IN THE FOURTH PILLAR OF GAME DESIGN!" and all we got was terrible voice acting to go along with our collect 8 poop and hand it in quests.
I'm not saying that EQN might not have a shot at being a good game. I'm just sick to death of devs boasting about how they've thought of something 'totally unique and new that will blow our minds!' that ends up being the same shit we've always had with a new name. For example the semantic argument some faggots were having about shards vs. instances a few pages back.

We'll know in two weeks, it's not like they would say it's the same as been done before. I'm pretty sure Trion, Bioware, Carbine, Zenimax are also saying they were/are making something different, and we know how that turned out. It seems the concept of being different is vastly different between devs and players.
Still, I played EQ1 for 6 years, and EQ2 for 2 years or so...Norrath has a special place in my heart, so I am hopeful.
