Seemed fine to me, but we've been chatting about it on and off in IRC since the con started. Please try to write more than 5 words per line tomorrow for some context man. It's hard as hell to follow what you're talking about.

It's just hard to tell when someone is asking a question, when someone is making a statement... Like,What needs clarification?
Are people asking if they are bringing back old mobs, or are the devs confirming old mobs are back? Is someone asking Steve how he's going to play? Stringing those bullet points into a couple of sentences with a little more description would help a lot. Just feels like you are typing out powerpoint bullets.Identify glowing robe.
Fungi tunic and Rubicite in game?
Bring back all those things you remember. EQI & EQII.
Bringing back old mobs .
Steve. How are you going to play.
Does this mean you better see the content with the super hardcore of your server or you are SOL?
So some servers with more active players will progress quicker than others that don't work to push to 'the next chapter'.So, to better understand the Rallying Calls, I wasn't clear on some things with David Georgeson's example: say you've built a big city, and built these stone walls around it, and now an army has come for a siege. Is that something that happens over a couple hours, or a week?
McPherson: That army siege lasts until the players on the server have completed that stage.
"Think about it as if you're playing the game as if it were a book."
Butler: Think about it as if you're playing the game as if it were a book. So, you've started a new chapter. In this chapter, the army has arrived to lay siege to your city. All the elements of the plot that you progress with, as the reader of the book, you'll be progressing through those as a player in the game. There will be times where you need to be in the right place at the right time, and there will be situations that are drawn out over a longer period of time.
In general, Rallying Calls will be there, like a public quest, we intend for people to participate in them, right? So, simply defeating the enemy at the walls may be something that requires a day, two, may require a week. A siege implies that something would be fairly long lasting. A battle on the other hand [snaps fingers].
You are right. I guess the entire 1-50 based system is old. Essentially, you have to have a system where you progress in power somehow. That's how these things work. I just am tired of grinding via quest or monsters to get to a max "lvl" and then to raid as a 2nd job. I am not sure if there are tiers in this game though. Will be interesting to see how this is going to play out.But you are leveling, you are progressing through tiers of a "Class". Just because there is not the usual integer tied to it doesn't mean its not "leveling". You can't use tier3 skills, weapons, armor etc unless you level to tie3, you are locked out of that until you progress to it. That's leveling at its core.
Saw a screenshot of the lion in the armor. I thought it was a joke at first. This looks retarded.
If they can make leveling not feel like grinding, I don't see what the problem is. It seems a little more interesting to attain Tier 4 Warrior skills by gathering [Fuckin' Awesome Tier 4 Warrior Armor] than it does to simply watch experience bubbles fill. But you are leveling, you are progressing through tiers of a "Class". It ain't easy, being cheesy. The lion/kerran just doesn't look mean. They kept talking about about how rough and gruff they wanted to make everyone and they put Madagascar in it.
I'd love for a dynamic long siege. I talked that up during Shadowbane testing. The sieges were basically just quake matches with the winner decided in an hour. You should wake up under siege, go to sleep under siege, and over and over. Historically speaking, sieges would often last for months. I'm not expecting months, but something more significant than an hour or two would be nice. The siege itself is an opportunity to profit in status or wealth if you can supply the demand for martial skill or material.McPherson: That army siege lasts until the players on the server have completed that stage.

Request a mod remove my earlier +net to Big Flex so I can +net him for this post instead. It ain't easy, being cheesy.

Tiers are in game. For characters and for areas. You are right. I guess the entire 1-50 based system is old. Essentially, you have to have a system where you progress in power somehow. I know this is very late to the party (workin fo da man), but fuck you. I am one who would love to see EQ1 again but am also excited to see this game (although I could do without the ubah pauldrons). Your pathetic bigotry fails. Go back to WoW boy.So many people who wanted EQ1 all over again must be crying into their cheetos right now.
e: Hope everyone likes voice chat and fast-paced combat!
I think it's okay. The big problem is that Lions have elongated noses, so it ends up looking cartoony to many people because it's a little more exaggerated. If they kept it a tiger-like creature with a flatter face, I don't think there would have been as many complaints.Am I the only one who doesn't mind the Kerran? The head needs some tweaking, sure, but do we not remember how awful the "Lion's-head stuck on a human body" was? /shrug
Player stats are called attributes. Equipment will not provide attributes. Additional attributes will be extremely rare and will require tremendous effort to modify. All attributes will have impactful meaning for all classes.
he really wanted this to fail but it's no where near as bad as he and a few others were hoping. the more they talk about this game the cooler it sounds. This game would really benefit from early player feedback from beta thoI know this is very late to the party (workin fo da man), but fuck you. I think they could be worked with, but as it stands, they simply don't fit into the world at all. The human model I can accept, but the kitty needs a major face lift.Am I the only one who doesn't mind the Kerran?
