This is the problem with this board. When did I say it needed a solution? If that's what they are going for and their goal, then hey it is what it is. But that does not mean you can't point out very obvious issues and problems that can and most likely will arise and given SOEs reputation will either be glossed over and knee jerk fixed. What is your solution? Should they just go without the idea? Because it's a really cool one dude. If I decide to keep the feature or do without b/c some people might not get to see it 5 years down the line i'm going to keep it
It's a kerran! /laugh.Frogloks are only a maybe? Wtf? Can someone explain to me how a lion becomes one of the models they show off at the reveal andFrogloksare just a maybe?
A huge thing here is going to be if gear can be lost....Horizontal systems of power tend to only be accomplishments to maintain if the gear can be destroyed or taken--so keeping that T3 suit, and maintaining the ability to use those spells, is in itself an accomplishment--like having access to ships and parts in EvE, or a steady stream of high end crafted gear in UO--the ability to swap classes is a sign of wealth/resource collection/accomplishment. This would dovetail nicely if the crafting system were indeed like a sandbox.gear isn't fungible. Families are distinct. Maybe you need compete elven tier 3 can't mix and match with qeynos tier 3. Except for sub components which I don't have a handle. Anyway need gear and abilities to progress. Also currently 5 tiers in game.
current answer at pool party is they are aware of issue and thinking about it. Lack of proper gear is huge hit for one thing . One option is additional benefit to someone who chooses to specialist and and doesn't multiclass. But will ask talisker tomorrow.Would REALLY appreciate confirmation. As of now the multiclassing is my #1 biggest concern for the game. I just want some form of class interdependence. Like others have said I don't want to be a tank and be able to click a few buttons to swap out my abilities and become a healer on the fly. Even if I spent a shitload of time unlocking the healer class and leveling it up and whatever else. I shouldn't be able to just swap back and forth instantly whenever and wherever I want. That would single handedly ruin the game for me.
They mentioned things would play out differently on different servers, so I assume players will get their chances on new servers, and there will always be something big happening moving forward. I mean, otherwise any new servers they opened would have to open with a bunch of rally calls assumed to have gone one way or another. On the same note though, that sounds like bullshit to me. I can't imagine halas never being built, for example.I mean how do you gather new players? They hear their friends talking about doing this awesome event, so they want to play too, but guess what they can't ever do that awesome event. And these are not just mini holiday events or throw away content, this major content, their major feature and part of the main storyline. It's like telling a friend you read this awesome book, but there was only 1 copy and you burned it when you were done.
What you're asking is, is this basically The Secret World. For those unfamiliar, you can basically max out everything (and that's kind of the goal) and then carry around a set of tank gear, heal gear, and dps gear. Then you just change out gear and skills and you can perform any role in the group.Yes, but ONCE you have it, is there anything sticky about your character? If I'm a high end character, can I just morph from a Wizard to a Cleric if some players need it? Can my entire character direction change in the field?
Pretty much, is it a UO server without a skill cap, where what you do is essentially dictated by simply what weapon you pick upafterthe original grind (Or in this case, "achievement" unlocks.)...So months in, I look like a cool Wizard, then WHABAGAGGBHA I'm a tank, because, my group needs one, then when we go to leave the dungeon WHAMAGAGMA I'm a Wizard again and I'm evacing!
Like that will ever happen. You and your homeboy are fighting mobs, you fight something too hard,
One of the tweets during the panel was that gravity hurts. Don't take too much away from those videos. They were basically just eye candy. This was little more than a tech demo. Finally watched some of the video....best takeway? Apparently no fall damage!!! Dumbest fucking thing in MMO's of all time!
8:00 for the relevant part, and he says things like "go back in there". So it could be you going back for part deux: the revengeance at a later point. You and your homeboy are fighting mobs, you fight something too hard, you both try out your rollidex of various class combos until something works

Nope, eq2 got Sarnaks. I'm hoping EQN will repeat that come time for Kunark to appear, although I'd like it if they were redesigned to look more like the Droag race from eq2 (aka: draconians from Dragonlance, they're basically the same thing).Drakkin's were a race in EQII i'm pretty sure.

This will change. They just don't want to reveal that they haven't made decisions about super basic gameplay mechanics.Have you seen the current Round Table questions?
Should female dwarves have beards or not?
Should the Ratonga be in EverQuest Next?
Hopefully it remains questions for things like that, and not for really important aspects.
Progression servers are popular enough in EQ1 that you need a subscription to access them, and plenty of players do. For me personally, they are the only reason to sub to EQ, and sometimes I do just to get a nostalgia trip. What is your solution? Should they just go without the idea? Because it's a really cool one dude. If I decide to keep the feature or do without b/c some people might not get to see it 5 years down the line i'm going to keep it
They will not know the past as to play those events.. just it's history.. basically new lore.. They will have their own unique experience. It's a living, breathing world. You can't have it both ways. It's not really an issue when you stop and realize the world won't wait for you..This is the problem with this board. When did I say it needed a solution? If that's what they are going for and their goal, then hey it is what it is. But that does not mean you can't point out very obvious issues and problems that can and most likely will arise and given SOEs reputation will either be glossed over and knee jerk fixed.

Seriously. I'm 1000% behind this. Also, the next poll needs to be: "Do you prefer the oriental hulk we have now or traditional fatties for Ogres?" Bring back fat ogres. I'm going to start a movement.
