Lethar looks interesting to me.

TSS start I've always thought would be a good TLP to play on. I've done enough Unrest and Lower Guk to last me a lifetime, let me level in the new zones and pick up gear and augs as I go. It's also not TOO far in that people get overwhelmed by all the buttons, eg Miragul.

Personal loot sounds interesting too (pending details on implementation).

I've been wanting a Lethar server (TSS start) for ages, just to see what it's like having a whole server level from 1 largely in TSS zones. It's the only expansion with zones from level 1 onward that has never actually had a server start in it specifically. Closest thing was probably Miragul server (HoT start) but it doesn't really count. Besides, the only people who played on that server were a guild that got run off of Phinny.

My other idea was a Kerafyrm Event Server that runs from TSS to SOF over 3 months or something and functions like the old Quarm slugfest (that server probably should have been called Mata Muram, come to think of it)

Most of the posted ideas on the live boards are pretty bad, they break up some choices into too many sub-choices, and there's some serious vote-splitting going on for reasons people have pointed out already.

Eh, at this point I'm checked out of any future TLPs anyway, I'm too beat-up and grizzled to do the rigamarole all over again.

Free trade and no ilevel locks will get me in. I will absolutely miss the shit out of triple classing, but 2 boxing is close enough.

The bit about Lethar having Personal Loot is interesting. I'm guessing it's just a chance for loot to drop that only you can roll on or pass on, which is.... fine.

Lethar and Frostreaver should have their release dates swapped so Lethar is up first. That one is going to be more of a curiosity for people who want to see how a TSS server goes out of the gate (for the first few weeks) and try some new leveling routes they've never done before. Not sure if it'll really last or draw a big crowd, given that anyone who wants to spend time in TSS/TBS/SOF is already on Teek doing just that.

Having Lethar be the first one up would give it a better fighting chance at drawing a bigger crowd that more of will stick around. Putting out Frostreaver first, which will likely end up being a Teek-like Uberserver, will just ensure that the normal TLP crowd rolls on there and is too busy for Lethar when it rolls around. No matter what order they're in, Frostreaver is going to upstage Lethar on population pretty hard, so Lethar going first would at least give it a shot at doing well.

The problem they have is the later the expansion they start on, the longer the wait till the next expansion. Right now the option that is 'winning' the poll is velious start with 18 weeks till luclin and then another 18 weeks till pop.

It's basically 4 terrible options, and you get to choose.

They keep forgetting the 5th option: We don't play.

It's idiotic and I'm not sure why they're doing it like that. So basically, PoP has to end exactly a year after the server launch no matter what, so the unlocks have to be adjusted to make sure that happens? Kinda confirms the "planned obsolescence" conspiracy theories about the PoP die-off being engineered (via dragging it out so much) just in time for the next TLP every year.

Velious launch makes the most sense (Frostreaver's a good name for it too) but WTF's with the unlocks?

And all the cadence votes are only for AFTER PoP. As I was afraid of. No adjustments to that first year. It's etched in stone, damnit! You'll take your extra month of LDON and like it! And then the fraction of the population that doesn't jump to the next TLP can have whatever cadence they want after that, whatever.

Edit: How is there no poll option to consolidate PoP and LDON? They're really preserving the sanctity of that die-off.

I get that the results are tied to the options presented but who the fuck wants to do ToV and AoW from the end of May in to October? Finish that up and it's 18 months of Luclin? Do their internals tell them that every TLP must be right around Gates of Discord the following May to encourage maximum recycling?

It appears to be exactly that, yes.

DoDH and PoR finally being combined is good (except for people who have to beat both in one launch). It's possible that a better solution might be to have the OOW/DON and DODH/POR consolidations be one week later instead of simultaneous unlocks. This would go for TSS/TBS doubly so (not that it's up for vote) since Solteris is such a blow to TSS's raids.

A big-brain play would be combining LoY with Luclin, or even earlier.

If all of this is etched in stone than I don't consider starting later than vanilla to be a feature. I like all the early expansions just fine but eighteen weeks of Velious to eighteen weeks of Luclin is too much of both of them. I'd absolutely rather spend at least a slice of that time in vanilla and another slice in Kunark. Even if you show up late during Velious it's eighteen weeks of Luclin after with the dreaded sixteen weeks of PoP.

Those are all timed to end pop right around when a new server would start. End of pop is also usually when a lot stop because they have some obsession with doing classic > pop over and over and over.

Starts in may, so pop would launch in feb 2026, if its 12 weeks, putting it right back in may. In some fucked up way it's following what so many players do. How much of it is DBG stupidity or them following player patterns. Probably a mix of both.

The only difference is w/e the thing lethar is in august. But that kind of late start usually never goes well for TLPs, because again players are crazy over doing the same shit every time for "nostalgia.

Are they really following player patterns when it appears to be a hard rule that players are allotted 36 weeks in vanilla through Luclin and sixteen in PoP/LDoN setting things up for a fresh TLP when May rolls around? They're not even trying to get people to hang around for the later expansions or have smooth and timely unlocks to massage player retention. They want you to burn out and then come back next year and blow a bunch of money on bags and pots.

I mean if the population drops off every time after pop ends, starts a pattern. Players seem adverse to anything after GoD at the latest. Doesn't matter how fast unlocks are, can look at selos that even quick unlocks doesn't mean vast population. They even state in their press release "The fact is the population on every progression server declines as more and more expansions unlock". Players are drug attacks for that classic to pop experience, probably even more so for the classic to sov, which a lot consider the holy grail of EQ.

Imo its a matter of dumb developers and dumbass players.

Fanbreakers problem was entirely sitting in luclin for 9 months and they double downed with stupid level locks. It had some decent ideas but was killed by the first hard rules.

Their safe money seems to be classic to pop with 8 to 12 week unlocks. Anything starting too far no one wants and anything longer drives people up a wall and away.

Make 1 safe usual server and have a 2nd that actually tries new things imo, even if it dies. Launching 2 servers at the same time was always dumb anyway, so at least they are going away from that this time.

Why they wont just admit that the game tends to suck ass after PoP and create an alternate timeline for TLP+ that continues after PoP is beyond me. Instead, they keep making expansions for the Live game that sucks mega dick and counting on making their money off of people replaying TLP year after year. it's fucking stupid.

Because it doesnt suck after PoP, its just harder to be a krono lord so all those people fuck off. I was shocked how much I enjoyed post pop the first time I did it till TSS finished.

I'm sure it doesn't suck for everyone that has played it, but for myself, it sucks. I don't like that every piece of gear has a mile long list of stats, needing to create a spreadsheet to figure out what abilities out of the hundreds my character has should be on the absurd number of hotbars on the screen and figuring out which one to hit when.

To me, the game goes from being a relaxing hobby to being more like a job. So, yeah. To me, it sucks. To each their own of course. You may like it, but I hate it.
