Not a huge fan of druid because it really has a long long way to go to be decent and even then is the worst of the 3 healers. From classic through luclin it is basically pure garbage as a healer, I mean literally do the math and you realize having a ranger heal your group would only be slightly worse than having a druid do it in velious.

In PoP and later eras they start to become OK, but really only OK. Cleric and SHM are still way better.

Ports are also massively devalued by translocators, a trip like GFAY to SOLB that on P99 could take over an hour will take 10 minutes or so on Mischief running.

A druid that charms is gonna be #1 dps. The issue in classic is access to good charm spots. They aren't even too bad without charm against higher cons because their revamped dots are good and have resist mods. They're only weak if you are trying to just be a healer.

Druids that can effectively charm are about as common as women that play tanks in MMOs. They exist, but GL ever finding one.

It mostly comes down to lack of situations where their charm is useful really. Druid charm is mostly an edge scenario, kinda like magi charm. Sure it’s good in theory, but the situations that actually exist where all the pieces come together are limited. Necro charm is by far the most useful of the three type charms.

In classic necros can charm in lguk and druids in solb. Neither usefully in oot. Both can charm in chardok for 51-60. The problem is not access, the problem is people deciding not to charm.

That's not really true, can charm in solb in classic and you can charm in chardok in kunark.

I didn’t say you couldn’t do it, just that it is clearly not as good. As an example, Druid charm in Chardok is just annoying. You can do it, but there’s issues with mob scarcity and placement, and other things that make it a hassle. Meanwhile a necro can waltz in and charm half the zone. While you technically can Druid charm there, necro charm is clearly superior, and they have the tools to handle a dungeon environment better on top of things.

Pickzones really hurt Druid Charm a lot. It doesn't matter as much that Druid charm destroys in Tactics when people spend all their time in Plane of Fire

Druids also have nukes that aren't exactly terrible, not as good as Wizards but a close second behind mages, amazes me how few people use them in fast killing groups though seems they'd rather dump 500 mana worth of dots into a mob that's gonna be dead in 30 seconds. Or even worse, cast wolf form and melee.

Druids are ok, very versatile blah blah, problem is a lot of players that insist on shoehorning themselves into a role, like the druids that join a group and immediately ask if they are "heals or dps" like fucking look at the group comp, do you see a fucking Cleric? no, then guess what you're heals, yes there's a Cleric, ok then do some not shit dps but keep an eye on the clerics mana and help out a bit if they get low, try to be useful instead of just looking for one job to do.

If you show up to Fear at 50 and charm one of the Shiverbacks and get it buffed you can put out some pretty serious raid damage as a druid.

Find better druids. Their charm in there is fine, and necro tools are not needed in a zone with some of the worst pathing in eq such that you can move 5ft and be 2 minutes further away. A goon is a better pet by only a small margin, whereas druid nukes shit on necros who can't get real value from their dots.

Druid charm in PoF might be some nice coin now.

Druids get fucked in the ass for PoP charming, their charm maxes out at 60, pretty sure the only thing you can do charm wise in fire is DC one of those green mobs that spawn in F1.

I was talking about fear - the apes make nice pets. Might be worth selling to nubs.
