I like the redesigns and having to relearn again when they change things. It makes it feel fresher than just normal dlc content. Stellaris just dropped 4.0 and I was kind of sad at how little fundamentally changed.

I like rpgs but those tend to run 40-60 for a solid title and if I get 100 hours out of it I think hell yeah money well spent. Paradox games I've sunk thousands of hours into. I really dont mind paying for dlcs. They now do seasons where you can pay a lump price and get whatever comes out that year or whatever timetable.

I had to drastically limit my Age of Wonder 4 time, as I was getting like 3 hours of sleep a night... just one more turn.

I own all the DLCs but i cant complain too much. i got thousands of hours of enjoyment out of the game.

My Eu4 interest goes in spurts, so I dont see myself buying all the DLCs again. I'll just do a season pass whenever the urge strikes me.
I own all the DLCs, but the season pass strategy is what I've used with hoi4, which is my current favorite game in the paradox library.

Hoi4 has done a pretty good job recently. Secret projects feel awesome and (ignoring flametanks) not TOO game breaking. Season pass to try it got me to buy dlcs there.

Flame tanks were always in the game and always mandatory. Projects just added a minor gate to them. I do wish some of the mid game techs got a buff to make changing army comps worth considering, like rocket artillery.

What's it like driving through the mud of Ukraine with a 100 ton tank?

only a few days to go.
Must admit that I'm still nervous about it. it looks and sounds too much like victoria3, which I played and mostly enjoyed but didn't suck me in in the same way EU4 did.

looks like they're adding in some of the clamp aspects that have been common to MEIOU forever. The ill-fated EU spinoff before 4 was also going heavy into administrative reach.

I just hope for EU to eventually develop an internal late game that's interesting. it only gets easier to project power in EU3 and 4 as time goes on.

Having to relearn to play the same game over and over again is may be one of my biggest turn offs for modern gaming outside of Woke ideology and Games As A Service forever monetization. Continuously adding complexity and new systems isn't the same thing as making a game better or more fun.

Of course I already pre-ordered this but watching people play it seems its left off right where EU 4 systems ended.

Installed. Lets see how much of an AIDS ridden buggy mess this is. Gotta love that the first thing it does is blast you extremely loud horns.

I've been itching for a grand strategy game lately. I've never tried EU, saw this had very good reviews and grabbed it for $50 off of cdkeys. Then I clicked on some random review..."I'm an EU veteran. I didn't feel like I knew what I was doing with EU5 until about the 100 hour mark. After 1000 hours I feel like I finally have a good grasp on the game."

The fuck did I just sign up for?

Saw this game pop up from that PotatoMcWhiskey guy. What in the autism is this game?

I got stressed just watching him play. UI seems like an overwhelming mess.

I'm a few hours in and think I have a grasp on the government menu. About a 100 more menus to go before I can un-pause and start playing the County of Cuijk which random country has blessed me with.

If you don't automate anything, yes. The game is hugely overwhelming. But you can automate most mechanics so you can focus on small chunks of the game at a time. Then unautomate as you get more comfortable. It's not nearly as bad as people make it out.
